Sylosis Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Probably been asked, however could not find a post on this via Google search... So, pardon me if I am re-starting an old topic. I must say that I find it sad, or should I say "disapointing", that the F5 is as expensive as the other packages, yet has no Campaign coming with it. I'm starting the Mirage campaign at the moment, and it seems well built (with a lot of Voice acting and what not). I wish we'd have that with the F5, especially since it's the same price. Anyway... Guess I just wanted to come and whine about it!... :S Any chance it might coming as an update? Or will it be a separate purchase (which would be quite frustrating)? Windows 10-64bits, i7-8700k, GTX 1080Ti, 32 Gb RAM, MSI Monitor 32in 165Hz. Mirage 2000C, F5-E, Mig21bis, A10-C, FC3, F-18, AV-8B N/A, F-14, F-16, SuperCarrier
Nirvi Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 There are campaigns available for purchase, NTTR is needed: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/campaigns/f-5e_aggressors_acm_campaign/ https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/campaigns/f-5e_abfm_campaign/ And a usermade dynamic campaign for free: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=181287 Serious uglies Discord 4YA - Project Overlord WW2 Server My DCS Videos
Sylosis Posted July 3, 2017 Author Posted July 3, 2017 Am I correct in saying that I can use the Steam keys in the standalone version (but not the opposite situation). I got all my DCS stuff from Steam (DCS World + separate packages (F5, Mirage, A-10, Mig21). Nevada not being available on Steam, if I'd want to get the campaigns, I'd need the Standalone. Hence my question... Thanks Windows 10-64bits, i7-8700k, GTX 1080Ti, 32 Gb RAM, MSI Monitor 32in 165Hz. Mirage 2000C, F5-E, Mig21bis, A10-C, FC3, F-18, AV-8B N/A, F-14, F-16, SuperCarrier

Not fully correct ... on standalone you can use all the stuff you purchased at Steam, EXCEPT the Mirage :( For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
Sylosis Posted July 3, 2017 Author Posted July 3, 2017 Not fully correct ... on standalone you can use all the stuff you purchased at Steam, EXCEPT the Mirage :( Damn... Thanks for the answer. This means I won't be able to get Nevada until it's out on Steam :( Windows 10-64bits, i7-8700k, GTX 1080Ti, 32 Gb RAM, MSI Monitor 32in 165Hz. Max_Rogue Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Why not just get the standalone and transfer everything you have. Doesn't look like you have the Mirage, which is the only thing that won't transfer over. If you're one of the people worried about payment issues, I use paypal, and have never had a scam/fraud problem. If you're worried about the long updates, they aren't that often, and as long as you keep up with them, it's really not too bad. I used to use the Steam version, but it feels so limited in what you can/cannot purchase. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Johnny Dioxin Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 I think you have a very good point about the missing campaign, Sylosis. Sylosis Posted July 4, 2017 Author Posted July 4, 2017 Well, it is something I would definitely do if I didn't own the Mirage. If I would have known that there was a lot more to DCS when not going through Steam, I would have gotten it directly from Eagle Dynamics in the first place. But ya, too late now, as I have purchased the F5, A10-C, Mig21bis and Mirage.... I guess I could "re-purchase" the Mirage but man... that would suck big time. Just on principle I'm not willing to do it. Windows 10-64bits, i7-8700k, GTX 1080Ti, 32 Gb RAM, MSI Monitor 32in 165Hz. Max_Rogue Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Yeah, I didn't see that you had listed the Mirage under your purchased aircraft. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
escaner Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 I also find a bit disappointing that the F-5 does not have a campaign, but OTOH, this is what they advertise (and it is what we have): Single missions and full set of training missions will be created while in Early Access Extended Campaign for the F-5E by Maple Flags Missions Developer (not included in the module package) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

When I bought the F5, I knew I was over-paying, since it was the same price than the other modules, but without a campaign... But I'm a big fan of the F5, so I bought it willingly. And if you ask why, it's purely because TopGun is my favorite movie XD (and yes, it is true). So ya, you can count on me buying the F14 when it's available on Steam! Rudel_chw Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 When I bought the F5, I knew I was over-paying, since it was the same price than the other modules, but without a campaign... I see your point ... however, the Campaigns are not that expensive if you wait until they are on sale .. I purchased the F-5E Aggressors Basic Fighter Maneuvers Campaign for US$5 on ED's sale back in December. But I'm a big fan of the F5, so I bought it willingly. And if you ask why, it's purely because TopGun is my favorite movie XD I'm also a big fan of the F-5 .. but not because of the movie, but because the F-5 has been on my country's airforce for many years: :) For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
Sylosis Posted July 7, 2017 Author Posted July 7, 2017 Yes you are quite right, they are not that expensive, especially on sale it's very affordable. Nice picture. Simicro Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 I'm considering to buy the F5. Being an offline pilot, tutorials, missions and campaigns are essential to me. It is sad for me because for my PC is not powerful enough to move to DCS 2.0 so I'm on 1.5 and the two additional F-5 DLC campaigns require DCS World version 2.0! And as I understand from this thread, there is no default campaign included with the F-5. Do the "Single missions and full set of training missions" are already available? Do the "Extended Campaign for the F-5E by Maple Flags Missions Developer" are refering to : - F-5E Aggressors Basic Fighter Maneuvers Campaign - F-5E Aggressors Air Combat Maneuver Campaign for DCS 2.0 (and not 1.5) ? - Tony - . Yes, you must have the NTTR maps for those campaigns since the aggressor squadrons operate out of those airfields. I assume you'll have to buy the NTTR after the merge to 2.5 also. 1 When all else fails, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! i-7 8700K Coffee Lake 5 GHz OC CPU, 32GB Corsair 3200 RAM, GTX1080 Ti 11Gb VRAM. Yes to both. The tutorial missions are perfectly fine to start with the aircraft. I haven't tried the single missions. Look at the screenshots for a list of missions in the Caucasus. Edit: Actually the module is pretty much finished. I just miss delivery profiles in the manual for Snakeyes and CBU bombs and a bug here and there to fix. But it looks to me that all Belsimtek wanted to deliver is already there. Edited July 10, 2017 by escaner 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

dimitrischal Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 The single missions included are excellent. I would go as far as claiming they are the best of any module. Would love to see a campaign in the same context.

Johnny Dioxin Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 The disappointment for me is that the campaigns are air combat stuff - and I bought the F-5 as a ground pounder and would prefer to use it in that scenario. I suppose a mixed-bag would be okay, as long as the A/A side isn't too difficult to manage without doing months of practise first (who wants to practise at something that doesn't really interest them?). I bought one of the campaigns - and even the F-15C one, too, but I have not even activated them and doubt I will ever fly them. But you never know. Sylosis Posted July 12, 2017 Author Posted July 12, 2017 I would add that indeed the F5 single missions included with the module are very well built, but! if I recall correctly, there aren't many. Like 5 or 6 max? So ya... nice missions and well edited, but... ya, another disapointment. Windows 10-64bits, i7-8700k, GTX 1080Ti, 32 Gb RAM, MSI Monitor 32in 165Hz.
