Thanks Miguel, that sorted it. In general, if I am halfway through a campaign and you release an updated version of the scripts, should I update the scripts? Or should I wait until I'm done with the campaign before doing so?

Just asking as I saw that with NG there is only one version installed

 

And one last thing: in DCE manager, update, there is drop down menu with a choice of server 1,2,3. Is that the server where the scripts are downloaded from or something else?

For now, with the NG script version, I try that it does not force a restart of the campaign.

On the other hand, to pass from an old version (for example 20.38.01) to NG: I do not guarantee anything, if you have an old campaign started on an old script, do not change anything.

The servers 1 or 2 or 3 are there only to anticipate a failure of a server, normally, all the files are present on all the servers.

Hot War in the Cold Hind Roll's Campaign is available :thumbup:

This is a really challenging campaign because targets are not really easy to find and enemy fighters are often trying to shoot you down. Use CAP cover command (F10/F2) and Petrovich eyes if you play in SP 😉

Hi all. Was doing the Hornet over Caucasus and was assigned a SEAD mission with a 4 ship escort. The escort never took off. We were on mission schedule so didn't leave them behind I don't think. Ended up getting jumped by a bunch of Mig-29's. This happen to anyone else? Escorts don't show up?

Hi there,

I spotted a few problems during Crisis in PG (Falcon), here they are:

1) wingmen declare bingo fuel, then immediately after they eject...

It happened more than once, for example in the mission here (too big for attachment)

not sure this is AIs being dumb or a DCE problem.

2) I got a few intercept missions where the inbound target was 270 miles out....

it also happens to AI flights, I like to use F2 and see what's going on when I saw 2 F-14s flying over the Iranian desert. Wondered wtf they were doing there...it was an intercept mission and their route looked smtg like this, flying into the unknown :)

Maybe there needs to be a check on how far out targets are before setting a flight off?

3) I spotted an F-18 anti ship strike where the route looks something like this, with steerpoint 1 marked as attack point. The target were ships roughly where shown below

They got there, fired their AGM 84D, and guess what? The only thing they killed were some goats, as the AGM 84 slammed into the mountains.

Maybe the F-18 need to fly higher? Or there needs to be a check as to what is between the attack location and the target.

 

4) not sure why, but I got 6 or 7 intercept missions one after the other. Choices were CAP or intercept, but no strikes.

 

5) I played this campaign in 2.5.6 and now in 2.7.3 (all stable), and my impression is that the blue coalition is much less efficient at taking targets out. Was there a change in the campaign design?

 

6) this must be AIs being dumb....but you tell them to engage bandits and what do they do? They DO engage them with no regards of their own safety! This means they end up flying over SAMs and being regularly shot down....

 

I am using DCS 2.7.3, DCE 20.47.112 and the campaign version is 5.0

1/ the bingo(voice)=ejection is a DCS problem, that's why I added a written bingo on the top right, which is closer to reality.
The problem that follows the bingo is that the AIs do RTB at very low altitude, which increases their power consumption.

 

2/ this is a problem that I've only seen in PG, I think that the AI becomes ... crazy ^^ when we add "improved" tasks
Sometimes a plane or a whole group (if it's the leader that breaks down) flies straight to infinity and beyond ^^
And I haven't found out why yet...

 

3/ it's the problem of the mountain, yes, it would be necessary to make fly higher, or to find another solution, the AI don't know how to manage that

 

4/ it can happen...

 

5/ it's a question for CEF

 

6/ DCS problem...

Please could someone spare a few minutes for a poor sod who gets very little “play” time? 
 

I’ve tried DCE twice in the past, the last time was late last year, but that second time I found that the f18 campaign had got a bit to demanding for my hardware even with pruning enabled (at the time 8700k 1080ti 32gb Ram and a Rift S) where as Liberation 2.0 was fine (with culling)

 

I’ve since upgraded to a 5900x and a 3090 but now using a G2 (the lord give’th, the lord take’th away.) Ive tried the latest Liberation, 4.00 I believe, and even with culling there now seems a bit too much going on and performance suffers as a result. Also I don’t really have time to plan all the missions at the moment.

 

So my questions are, how’s DCE in VR these days? I was very impressed the first time I tried it. But the second time even with pruning it was too much for my hardware.

 

I saw there is a Light version, is that recommended for VR? 

 

Which one do I want for a modern FA-18C experience? (From this I should be able to work out the same for F16, A10c etc.)

 

Any help is greatly appreciated, I only get about 2 hours a week to play and would rather not spend it experimenting. Blimey, VR forces me to do enough tinkering already!

I made light version of Crisis to help users to have better FPS : less ground and air units. 
For VR my best experience is to use a dedicated server ! I’m not really good with server things but I was able to use my old laptop to run a dedicated server and use it to play in SP : Miguel made a special generation mod for SP with dedicated server : I was able to add 10 FPS to my initial FPS…

There are still few bugs with Hornet Harpoon attacks in Crisis but if you lead anti ship attacks yourself you should be able to avoid mountains ;)

Thank you for the reply, and thank you for all your hard work. I’ve been using the dedicated server trick on my 2nd pc for Liberation 4.0, deffo helps in cpu frame times. I’m guessing there’s info on how to set that up in the installation instructions. I saw screen shots earlier in this thread of all sorts of stuff happening on the carrier deck whilst you wait for your turn to take off, looks incredible, can’t wait!

 

Would you recommend the light version for VR? And how would you say it affects immersion? Sorry to be a pain.
I hope to have a chance to check this out tonight, thanks again 👍

I would definitely recommend light version if you have FPS problems in VR

Pure MP mission generation removed  all IA deck movements except for your wingmen to avoid bugs. 
SP generation should be as cool as normal version (but with less FPS in VR) 

we made (Miguel21 in fact) 2 versions for dedicated server mission generation because off bugs with IA on the CVN deck. It’s not always but it happens and it can be really frustrating when you take time to prepare a mission and you must cancel it because of stuck IAs 😞

So you can try the dedicated normal version with full IA on deck but we can’t assure it will always work nice sorry :(
