Sling Load: wrong timing with weight removal

Recommended Posts

It's great to finally be able to perform slings. Thanks ED for fixing the rope issue!

So we were testing this with a pair of Hueys with my squad tonight and we believe you got the weight modification wrong:

1- Take off and perform hover check - note the torque.

2- Choose a relatively heavy load and hook it up.

3- Lift it then drop it or crash it somewhere

4- Perform another hover check - the torque should be much higher than at 1-. It's like the load is still there pulling you to the ground, even-tough it has been released. You'll also notice the helicopter is very heavy to fly.

5- Select another load in F6 menu and hook it up. The moment you do that, your chopper weight appears to reset back to the value before 2- and your helicopter suddenly climbs like a weather balloon without touching the collective, until the rope stops it.

Got this on server and client side, so I suspect there is something wrong with the way and timing the weight of the sling load is subtracted to the total helicopter weight.

Yes, I do have the straight rope bug. It is not pretty, but it is pretty much a cosmetic issue. The weight bug is a bit more annoying for missions. We are often using our choppers at BSD in marginal conditions (high altitude/ heavy) and this bug can potentially ruin missions. Of course, it is still better than having the rope breaking systematically, but still...
