Can you add one more thing to the briefing package

Can you add some formation speed parameters, type of formation and distance parameters to your briefing.

Just want something to shoot for while in formation.

Great Campaign I love it

Cheers,

Lucky

Only the missions that require escort or formation

Those that are not it's up to the player

Primarily just the document in the briefing

Thanks for your kind words!

There are a couple of concerns I have regarding adding speed to briefings, in terms of what you see vs. what you get. Firstly, we can only see IAS in the F-15 which is subjective to altitude. Second, in the cases of some AI aircraft...

...such as the Yak-40 in mission 12...

...they will climb out at the speed they want to, and only accelerate once level. In other cases...

...such as Magic in mission 2, or Buffalo in mission 8...

...it is less problematic, as no significant altitude change is required once you rejoin until you split again.

I think mostly this may just lead to a lot of people saying "but he was supposed to be at XXX kts" in instances like...

...the Frogfoots in mission 1, who can sometimes have a more difficult time reforming with each other once pushed to their WP and will fly more slowly than programmed until all members rejoin...

...which makes me a little hesitant to start going down this route. It's stuff very easily broken by changes to AI, or behavior by the player, and will look like bugs in the mission to persons unfamiliar with the..let's call them nuances of AI formation behavior.

As far as the type of formation, that is up to your discretion. You can push your wingman to a number of different formation types via the radio command menu.

Remember too, you can establish a RADAR lock on the aircraft you're trying to fly formation with, and observe your closure rate in knots in the bottom right corner of the RADAR screen!

BD and I will pow-wow over this out of the public eye. Thanks for your suggestion and we hope you enjoy the rest of the campaign!!

Thank you for the quick response.

In terms of the formation position, I agree its up to the player.

For mission 1 the mission editor shows 647 KMH for Su25T which is roughly 330-350 kts

The AI seems to be quite touchy in DCS World

Thank you for the advice

Cheers

  • 2 months later...

I did that and can't resist on shooting the poor aircraft down with some sidewinders  I blamed the master arm switch that's not working in the F-15c cockpit

But yes Radar locking the aircraft you are trying to fly in formation with is a good method indeed.
