When you added the ability to look down out of the window for vertical reference work, I actually thought that there was nothing left to improve on for this module. Then you added the ability to look down through the "Hell Hole" past the cargo hook to the load and I thought that I had died and gone to Heaven! I couldn't figure out why I was having so much trouble adapting to these new views, especially the view out the left seat since I am most familiar with this view IRL. Then it dawned on me, the view is turned 90 degrees to the right relative to the flight controls!

For the view out the left seat, IRL, when you lean out and look down, the vertical component (from top of screen to bottom of screen) correlates to fore and aft stick inputs and left is left and right is right, albeit under the door/window sill and out of sight. The way it is depicted in game, fore and aft stick inputs are left and right movement of the a/c and left and right is backwards and forwards respectively. Although it is not impossible to adapt and learn how to do it, I believe that it is very much more difficult than it needs to be and certainly more difficult than it is in real life.

The same problem exists with the view down through the Hell hole only it is 180 degrees out. When you first see the load and it is at the top of the hole, my first reaction is to move the stick forward to get it back into the center of the hole. Lateral corrections are also exactly backwards. Now, I realize that this is what the crew chief would see if he were to just turn around in his seat and look back and down through the hole. But wouldn't it be a little more useful, as a view available to the pilot, if it were turned around 180 degrees??

Is it possible to rotate the view out the window or down through the hell hole in game?

Yah, modelling of these great add on features has been disappointing.

Nice job putting it out there.

Thanks.

Just curious, not wanting to sound like a nudge, but could anyone from Belsimtek comment on whether or not this is even being looked into? :joystick:

There seems to exist a workaround until we get this (if ever), see post #4:

This is a view of the sling load using the work around Holton181 is referring to..

Once you activate the View.lua mod, you can then set up a snap view "outside" of the cockpit.

From the pilot seat in single player, use "Cockpit Camera Move Left" function to get into position. Then direct your view straight downward to set up the view angle you desire. "Active Pause" it, then make a snap view.

You can use this snap view to have a birds eye of the cargo. The airframe provides orientation and your controls remain "lined up", unlike the default cargo view.

Side note; The "Cockpit Panel View Toggle" function no longer works. SO. you have to hold the Snap View keys down to maintain the Snap View.

VoiceAttack allows you to work around this if you're a die hard Snap Viewer.

Since today's 2.5 update, my mod makes the Mi8 module disappear in DCS.

Please let me know if anybody else is seeing same.

It's known, there are certain .lua files that are now being checked and if the sytem finds anything changed, it won't load DCS or the module.

Ninelines is going to ask if this is intended or not.
