Dear Hollywood,

am I right when I think you found a way to get info in which Module aka Aircraft I do sit?

Well it would be nice to know cause I made a Macro via Voiceattack to switch through the Hud Modes for Combat A/G A/A and NAV.

By the way I have to say that not all Modules have the same Shortcuts for the same action. So it would be great to know which module I do actually use....

non standard folder

Thankyou for your reply, hopefully my 2nd question is not as dumb as my first.

At startup of VAICOMPRO my DCS v1.5x installation is not being found, it doesn't matter what i put in the 'custom folders' section it doesn't pick it up.

I have v1.5 in a non standard folder(not under c:\program files)

Is there a manual workaround i can try for v1.5x?

DCS v2.2 is fine

Thanks in advance.

Nice vid, you know you can disable player voice in menu of vaicom? no repeat of what you are saying and direct responce

Brixmis,

I think i am gonna try to make a kneeboard page because same problem here, never made kneeboard, but i need somthing

Good call. In fact, if someone would make a mod that would automatically jot down the 9-line in the kneeboard, that would be awesome. :)

Hello Hollywood,

thank you for the great piece of software. One thing i found out: It is best to install DCS an Drive/Partition C:

As long as I had the installation on drive D: i'm not able to get VIACOM 2.5 working even with the patch you supplied.

Now it works great for me. Much better recognition of my commands than in VIACOM 2.0.

Now for some really simple questions:

Right now I am mainly flying the F15 and Su33 so I only need one button for comms. I have designated the mic up button for comms which on my HOTAS is joystick 1, button 3. I configured my joysticks in VA and then went to the edit profile/command.

For safety and ease of use, for TX1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 I cleared the checkmarks in “When I press keys” and “when I press buttons” and for TX4, I only cleared “when I press keys”. I then assigned TX4 to Joystick 1, button 3 in the edit command. Is this the correct procedure?

I am not clear on the use of the PTT page and the drop down box “for single use key.” Is this box only for confirming what you did in the edit profile or do you actually assign TX4 in the box?

So far I think I am able to assign some cockpit controls to VA after reading your hint on how to do it.

This has happened the last two days...I have to tap my PTT button (in this case TX1) after receiving the confirmation beep for a command in order to get it to enter into DCS.

For example:

- I tap "TX1" and hear the static

- I say "Chief, Enfield 1-1, request engine start"

- I hear the confirmation beep and see the code come through VA

- No command is executed in DCS

- I have to tap TX1 again, and then the command goes through to DCS

Here is the debug stuff from doing this, twice in a row - I have bolded the part where the command actually went through to DCS:

1:53:29 PM - Listening suspended

1:53:28 PM - Joystick : 'Transmit TX1 release'

1:53:28 PM - Listening resumed

1:53:28 PM - Joystick : 'Transmit TX1 press'

1:53:27 PM - Listening suspended

1:53:27 PM - Joystick : 'Transmit TX1 release'

1:53:26 PM - TX1 | COMM2: [ Nellis AFB ],[ ],[ ] Request Engines Start [ ] [ ]

1:53:26 PM - Recognized : 'request engines start' (Confidence 95)

1:53:24 PM - (awaiting additional input)

1:53:24 PM - Recognized : 'nellis' (Confidence 96)

1:53:22 PM - Listening resumed

1:53:22 PM - Joystick : 'Transmit TX1 press'

1:53:20 PM - Listening suspended

1:53:20 PM - Joystick : 'Transmit TX1 release'

1:53:19 PM - (awaiting additional input)

1:53:19 PM - Recognized : 'Nellis request engine start' (contains 'nellis') (Confidence 77)

1:53:13 PM - Listening resumed

1:53:13 PM - Joystick : 'Transmit TX1 press'

1:52:19 PM - opening Configuration window

1:52:19 PM - Shortcut : 'Configuration'

1:51:31 PM - Listening suspended

1:51:31 PM - Joystick : 'Transmit TX1 release'

1:51:31 PM - Listening resumed

1:51:31 PM - Joystick : 'Transmit TX1 press'

1:51:30 PM - Listening suspended

1:51:30 PM - Joystick : 'Transmit TX1 release'

1:51:29 PM - TX1 | COMM2: [ Crew ],[ ],[ ] Request Rearming [ ] [ ]

1:51:29 PM - Recognized : 'request rearming' (Confidence 94)

1:51:27 PM - (awaiting additional input)

1:51:27 PM - Recognized : 'chief' (Confidence 96)

1:51:25 PM - Listening resumed

1:51:24 PM - Joystick : 'Transmit TX1 press'

1:51:21 PM - Player 104cdt_Buckeye at unit callsign Colt21 module AV-8BNA Harrier

1:51:21 PM - Entered new DCS mission | F99th-Ticket 2 Creech

1:51:21 PM - Plugin 'VAICOM PRO 2.5' initialized.

1:51:21 PM - Ready for commands.

1:51:21 PM - Initializing..

1:51:21 PM - Press LCtrl+LAlt+C for config.

1:51:21 PM - VAICOM PRO for DCS World. License: PRO

1:51:21 PM - Plugin support enabled.

edit: I should add that both yesterday and today, restarting my computer completely resolved the issue.

I could use a little help please

I have VA and Viacom Pro loaded. Unbound all of the Warthog mic buttons. VA recognizes what I say when I push the correct hotas switch but nothing happens within DCS. I've reviewed the setup portion of the manual and don't know what I'm missing. Do ineed to export something to DCS?

@warrene You'll need to check if your DCS installation is automatically recognized by the plugin, you will need to do manual install if not. PM sent.

@Bucks Not seen it before but will keep an eye out if I can reproduce

@Sobe You're on the right track - PM inbound

Is this correct? Do you have to have DCS installed on C: for VIACOM 2.5 to work? In that case there is no point for me to buy it because there is no way I can fit DCS on my C:

@Fisherman No it should work from any drive.

Which is not to say that incidental snags can be entirely ruled out when it comes to specific installations.

It has been tested to work on other drives than C:, I have a test instance here running on E: drive.

Other than Tom's mention here (uninvestigated so far) I've had no reports of drive related problems after initial patch.

Here are some more details. Maybe this could help

First VIACOM 2.5 pro was installed on E: and DCS (2.2.0 and 1.5.8) on D:

VIACOM 2.5 recognized my commands but in DCS nothing happens. Also the refresh-button on the PTT-Tab did not work.

I read here in post #8 and #11 about a similar problem. This c o u l d be caused by a non existend communication between DCS

and VIACOM 2.5. And this c o u l d be related to the installation of DCS on another drive than C:

So I did the following:

Apply the patch for VIACOM 2.5. Did not help

Did a manual installation of the lua-files (page 33 of the manual) - no success

New installation of VIACOM 2.5 on drive C: - did not help

Finally new installtion of DCS on C: in the path, the program gives.

After that VIACOM 2.5. works without any problems. What a fantastic program!

If you follow manuel, i think 2 important thinks to see the other filles are

1) put the fille in the right folder,

2) run voice attack as an administrator,

Hope its helps... if not than you will have to wait for hollywood ;)

Are "Extended commands" working? I am having trouble issuing "Open the canopy", "Request Refueling" and others in an AV-8B. Canopy doesn't work at all and refueling starts the fuel flow sound but doesn't actually refuel the aircraft.

Are those WIP? And are those just 3rd party scripts or were they integrated in DCS in the first place?

Hi Hollywood, Ive been struggling to get 2.5Pro to work correctly for a couple of days now, tried to sort it but I am stuck. I have mapped TX1,2,3 & 4 to my HOTAS for both pairs of TX and deleted the keyboard and HOTAS commands in my A10C controls profile and I'm running the sim without easy comms as my preferred set up and playing the Advanced Tactical Training Campaign.

So, when I initially call the tower (HOTAS Hold button for TX1 radio AM "request start up" Release HOTAS button) I get the correct response, then my Instructor calls for a radio check, I (HOTAS Hold button for TX1 radio AM "Copy" Release HOTAS button) and should get a confirmation from the instructor that he hears me but don't. Ignoring that I continue with my flight prep and call (HOTAS Hold button for TX1 radio AM "request taxi" Release HOTAS button) but get no response. What am I doing wrong?

I a so freaking confused. I bought the pro, downloaded it and the only thing in the zip file is a .dll, a txt file, and the pdf manual. Now I am out of downloads and I have no idea what is going on.
Im also confused why there is a limit for three downloads after you bought the license key when you can download it from the webpage before you even bought it.

For Neon and anyone else who might find this helpful

For voiceattack, it is best to let it install to the default directory. That way, you will have less problems. For viacom pro 2.5, download the zip file and unzip it to your desktop. The same goes for chatter file.

Go to voiceattack directory and open. Then copy viacom folder to the apps folder in voiceattack. Again, the same goes for chatter folder. Then run voiceattack as administrator. This will activate the folders dll and will create a set of folders with files in them.

Then you can import the viacom vap file from apps folder.

Also, when you download your purchased file, keep the zip file as a backup. If for some reason files become corrupt, you still have a couple more downloads left

Hope this helps.

Can we change the default sounds? I'd like to make the squelch sound a little less "pure-whitenoisy" by replacing it with a regular radio squelch

@all I'll get back to your questions, I'm away atm to spend some time with the family. The installation instructions are in the User Manual and the provided Install Notes. Simply follow them as described and there is no issue. The plugin generates additional files and subfolders on first launch. There is no download limit, files can be downloaded from the website as many times as you like. Hope this is helfpul.

Great question, I had found the radio noises from BMS for use in DCS, which I use in TS3 for mic clicks, I would love to be able to use these same noises (for consistency) in VoiceAttack/VAICOM.
