Well for some reason Vaicom and VA seem to be working fine today - go figure.

Still working a champ for me today. I guess all I needed to do to get it working properly was to complain about it LOL. No idea why it suddenly started working again. I did mess around with it trying to change the press and release to two button presses but did not have a lot of luck so reverted back to a press and release. Really not sure how that would have changed anything. But it is working now.

Still though not fully fleshed out for the Apache it seems.

I sure hope @Hollywood_315 is ok. Still last visit on forum April 15th, last post on forum back in Jan. Anyone know what part of the world he is in?

Is it possible to disable or uninstall the Vcom kneeboard? It seems to be bugged.

By bugged I mean, it randomly flips pages and still displays bogus ATC info. Today I was sitting on the tarmac at Nellis, pulled up the ATC page and it shows I'm at Vaziani 🤨

I hope so, although the developer has not made an appearance in some time on the forums. The most recent release was in March 2022, so just a few months ago.

Short answer - we don't really know at this time.

Vaicom is not recognizing initial calls to airborne tankers- or rather, it recognizes the commands but doesn't find the tanker.

I've tried the suggestions of resetting the database and so forth, upgrading to the latest versions, making sure I don't have audio processing services interfering etc. but nothing has helped.  It's not a recognition issue- the logs show it's using the correct radio, frequency is correct, it's understanding both "Texaco" and "request refuel", but apparently it looks for Texaco in the "crew" category- and that fails of course.

If I make the initial call to the tanker using the keyboard comm menus, it correctly processes subsequent calls (pre-contact, etc.)

There were posts earlier about this, but I never saw any resolution.  Any ideas?

Some log snippets showing correct recognition, but faulty processing:

Thanks for the idea, but I already tried that, and no joy.

Is there a way to use a different phrase when requesting refuel form a tanker vs. ground crew?  And then specifically having the tanker version search in "tanker" rather than "crew"?

First, saying "select texaco", waiting for unit selection, then "request refuel".  Finds texaco in tanker, but still requests fuel from crew.

I believe ‘request refuel’ is not a command that works for Tankers. First command should be ‘aproaching for refuel’ and when you have flown in range and proper position behind the tanker ‘ready precontact’. Al assuming you use the proper frequency for the tanker in question.

(After each command the tanker should talk to you confirming you request)

RedeyeStorm- you, my friend, are a stone-cold genius.  Or maybe I'm just a dumbass with target fixation. That was it.

Sad thing is, I did read the manual, I exported the command list, but was so fixated on the phrase "request refuel" that I didn't notice the tanker group command was "approach".  It's in the manual (pg. 22), it's in the csv export (cmd 171)- my mind just didn't perceive it, even if my eyes saw it.

Maybe that's why I suck at dogfights!

Many thanks for your help- this should go in the FAQ.

I myself added the command “inbound for fuel” as I was always getting confused about which command to say. It’s actually a pretty simple process.

Since Hollywood hasn’t been back in awhile, anyone know a way to disable VAICOM for a specific module (Apache)?  It’s really unusable for me but I have voice attack commands programmed so I don’t want to just shut it down each time.

Why not just create a whole new separate Voice Attack profile just for the Apache? Then simple matter of switching from Vaicom Profile to Apache Profile in VA when flying the Apache.

I never thought of that!  I don’t use profiles for voice attack and so forgot it could do that. Thanks.

As @dburne said, just move the commands to another profile.
But why not add/piggyback that profile into the VAICOM profile, and you don't have to switch at all, or are there specific problems that make you want to disable VAICOM?
Cheers!

Turns out it doesn't quite work like that.  My main problem is that the radio commands for the apache don't execute when they're recognized.  Sometimes I can force it by repeatedly pressing the radio button but thats not really a solution.  I've alread got other commands on voice attack in that profile, but radio commands won't work while VAICOM is running as it takes over the radio.  Alas, having a different profile doesn't seem to work either as the plugin isn't connected to a profile so its still running in the background even when I've deleted all the commands.  Looks like my only solution is to disable the plugin and restart voice attack each time I switch to the Apache.  Even creating a new profile still loads up VAICOM in the background preventing my own radio commands from running.

That is odd , I used to switch to another profile other than Vaicom for another flight sim with no problems but that was some time ago.

Is it possible to increase the darkness of the fonts used for the commands listed under the different tabs?

Lately I find them impossible to read. Seem to have changed along with the use of OpenXR contrast and/or brightness.(which I would like to retain)
