jeffdude Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 The simulation freezes for a period of time when I select to join in a viggen. I don't have this problem with other aircraft. It plays fine when it does load, but in multiplayer I get a time-out condition when in this frozen like condition. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I get this too when selecting the Viggen in MP - it just hangs for about 2 mins then I time out of the server.
Flappie Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 I do have the same problem since the release of the module. It happens everytime I enter or leave a Viggen slot. When I'm hosting, my buddies experience a short server freeze (~from 1 to 4 seconds). ---

When I'm hosting, my buddies experience a short server freeze (~from 1 to 4 seconds). If I host its ok it spawns, but the other players on the server suffer the same loss of frames, then the people who connect to my server can't spawn Viggen without timing out. If one of the others hosts then its the same the other way around.
QuiGon Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 (edited) I also experience a freeze when I spawn in a Viggen in MP, although it's just a few seconds (~5 sec maybe). Wasn't there a similar issue with the MiG-21 in the past? Edit: I'm using 1.5.8 Edited January 4, 2018 by QuiGon Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
Nealius Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Is this happening in 2.2 or 1.5.8? I've noticed that my AJS37 missions in 2.2 load considerably slower--maybe twice as slow--than any other module, even if they're the exact same mission with only the aircraft switched.
Flappie Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 It happens on 1.5.x. I've not tested it on 2.2. ---
Knock-Knock Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 (edited) Happens in both, and always has. Its the module that takes the longest to load I think. The cause, dunno. Maybe it has a lot more materials than other modules. As for multiplayer. If no one is in the Viggen yet, all clients will get a huge hit (freeze), cause they are loading it in. If someone is already in the Viggen, only the client who jumps in the Viggen, will experience the hit / long loading. Afaik. Neon Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Since 2.2 update I have not been able to get into a viggen in MP. Dcs always crashes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Neon Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Heatblur have acknowledged this issue and are now responding to it, they will have it fixed. Cool. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

QuiGon Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Aright thanks! The screenshot really wouldn't have been necessary. I wasn't doubting you, I was just curious :) Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
Cobra847 Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 We're investigating this issue. It's not due to resource loading (the Viggen has a smaller total load footprint than many other aircraft in DCS, we were very careful with this due to lessons learned in the MiG-21bis). Stay tuned! Bad Idea Hat Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 I'm suddenly able to use the Viggen in 2.2 MP again
Cobra847 Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 This is probably fixed in the latest 2.2 (and if not, the latest dev build pending for next patch!) Nicholas Dackard Founder & Lead Artist Heatblur Simulations https://www.facebook.com/heatblur/
jeffdude Posted January 7, 2018 Author Posted January 7, 2018 This is probably fixed in the latest 2.2 (and if not, the latest dev build pending for next patch!) I'm guessing it'll be the next patch, I can confirm that the issues is still present in both 1.5.x and 2.x versions with the latest updates applied. I'm glad you're looking into it. it's sad to see the AJS slots all empty because of this bug. I can move some serious mud with this bird :joystick: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
