Automan Posted January 13, 2018 Posted January 13, 2018 Very nice. Looking at this photo and you will notice that the height of the JA-XXX is the same of the emblem: So the size of the JA-113 is still a bit big and the size of the emblem is a bit small:P The shape of the emblem is wrong, like a lot of profile drawings I've seen around the net, why don't you use one emblem from my PSD? Like this one: The canopy white lines are in f-86f_glass.dds and the relative specular f-86f_glass_spec {"GLASS", 0, "f-86f_glass", true}; {"GLASS", 2, "f-86f_glass_spec", true}; ACER Predator Orion 9000: W10H | Intel i9-7900X OC@4.5Ghz | 8x16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport | Sapphire GTX1080TI | Intel 900P 480GB | Intel 600P 256GB | HP EX950 1TB | Seagate Firecuda 2TB ACER Predator XB281HK: 28" TN G-SYNC 4K@60hz ThrustMaster Warthog Hotas, TPR, MFD Cougar Pack, HP Reverb Pro
==Wiggy== Posted January 13, 2018 Author Posted January 13, 2018 I must have missed something. I don't recall seeing a PSD file from you? So this is where I am inexperienced. I don't understand what I am supposed to do with that XML code? Or are you just using it to show me the name of the files? Cheers, Rick CSEL\CMEL\IFR Certified Airplane Nut
Automan Posted January 13, 2018 Posted January 13, 2018 PSD file was attached at the end of my post here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3348382&postcount=19 The XML code I wrote is needed in the description.lua of the skin to declare the texture you're cusomizing. Usually additional liveries use default textures for canopy glass, gear bay, gear, cockpit, pylons, etc. In their description.lua are only declared the changed textures that DCS must load when you select this skin, for all the rest DCS load the default textures. So, in case you need to change a canopy glass, you must load description.lua of a default skin, search for glass material reference ( for the F-86 the material name for the canopy glass is "GLASS"), if not present you must edit the files adding the right lines : {"GLASS", 0, "f-86f_glass", false}; {"GLASS", 2, "f-86f_glass_spec", false}; The format is {"name of the material", Type of material, "Texture name", load default or not }; Name of material can be retrieved with the utility EDM Livery Extractor from uboats: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1744284/ Type of material can be 0=diffuse map 1=normal map 2=specular map other values are 5-8-11, but I dont remember exactly what type are Name of the texture must be declared without extension load default can be true or false: True=load the texture present in textures livery (the default one) False=load the texture present in the skin livery (the one customized) ACER Predator Orion 9000: W10H | Intel i9-7900X OC@4.5Ghz | 8x16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport | Sapphire GTX1080TI | Intel 900P 480GB | Intel 600P 256GB | HP EX950 1TB | Seagate Firecuda 2TB ACER Predator XB281HK: 28" TN G-SYNC 4K@60hz ThrustMaster Warthog Hotas, TPR, MFD Cougar Pack, HP Reverb Pro

==Wiggy== Posted January 13, 2018 Author Posted January 13, 2018 Ok, I've got the bort corrected, thank you Automan. I have the PSD saved. I will now correct these errors and hopefully correct the white lines around the canopy glass as well. Final thing will be to add the rescue placards and fix tail flash alignment. Cheers, Rick CSEL\CMEL\IFR Certified Airplane Nut
==Wiggy== Posted January 14, 2018 Author Posted January 14, 2018 Here's the results with the reduced Text size, increased Emblem size and design. Still need to realign tail flash. Cheers, Rick CSEL\CMEL\IFR Certified Airplane Nut

==Wiggy== Posted January 14, 2018 Author Posted January 14, 2018 Finally the stamp of approval! Lol. Ok, I will go with this. I won't be able to make the final touches until tomorrow or Tuesday. But thank you Automan for all the help and encouragement! Cheers, Rick CSEL\CMEL\IFR Certified Airplane Nut
==Wiggy== Posted January 24, 2018 Author Posted January 24, 2018 Back to JA-113 I'm still not clear on how to remove the White border around the glass? I've figured out the alignment for the tail flash flags. See pic 2, top flag. Other than alignment and changing the helmet, I'm going to refine the drop tanks slightly... Does anyone have any patches for this unit they want the pilot to wear? Cheers, Rick CSEL\CMEL\IFR Certified Airplane Nut
DonJosh Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 (edited) ich will search for pics... thank you for your work, the sabre looking great ps: the "luftwaffe"-pilots used the german flag as shoulder patch Edited January 24, 2018 by DonJosh
Volator Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 (edited) ps: the "luftwaffe"-pilots used the german flag as shoulder patch Not in Sabre times it seems, according to this video: Looks like they didn't wear patches at all, not even the German flag; some seem to wear a squadron bagde on their right shoulder. The patch culture seems to have taken off in the Luftwaffe when the Starfighter was introduced. Squadron badges to be worn on the right shoulder for Fighter Wing 71 "Richthofen" would be 711 Squadron 712 Squadron and the Wing badge on the left chest The Wing badge was slightly changed in time though, and I don't know the specific representation for the Sabre era of JG 71, and I also don't know when the squadron bagdes were introduced and if they were actually the ones I've shown here or if they are just from the Phantom era. Automan Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 In some photos, they wear the leather jackets with the German flags on both shoulders and the P-4 helmet have the flags on booth sides too ACER Predator Orion 9000: W10H | Intel i9-7900X OC@4.5Ghz | 8x16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport | Sapphire GTX1080TI | Intel 900P 480GB | Intel 600P 256GB | HP EX950 1TB | Seagate Firecuda 2TB ACER Predator XB281HK: 28" TN G-SYNC 4K@60hz ThrustMaster Warthog Hotas, TPR, MFD Cougar Pack, HP Reverb Pro

Reflected Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 Great job, mate! The white border around the canopy must be a bug, I've tried to get rid of it too. I would perhaps consider lightening the blacks a touch. The metal texture is amazing though. Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
==Wiggy== Posted January 24, 2018 Author Posted January 24, 2018 Thanks man. Yes, I've been fiddling with the glass spec, but to no avail. Perhaps you're right; a lighter black might ease the glaring contrast with the bright white. Cheers, Rick CSEL\CMEL\IFR Certified Airplane Nut

Snap Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Rick, this skin is really, really beautifull, thanks to you and Automan for his contribute, downloading now ! ;)
DonJosh Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Please change “Germany“ to “GER“ in the description file. So the skin will work for Germany aswell. Gesendet von meinem PLK-L01 mit Tapatalk
