QuiGon
It has been said for many months now that the Hornet will probably be more expansive than other modules due to the amount of work that went into it to make it happen. This module has been in development for about 5 years now, because it is such a incredible complex airplane with all its avionic systems. And the fact that there has been a lot of extra work going into the ground radar, folding wings, tail hook, helmet mounted sight, an additional MFCD, additional weapons systems, fly by wire, extra bit tests for all those systems may also have something to do with it. The price is more than fair! 1 Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing! =Mac=
I would pay more than $100 for this module. DCS World is my passion so, yes, I'll never complain about the cost. I will pay their price the day they let me download it. What scares me is the six month wait. The last of Spring, 2018 is June. But, from what I've seen, the Hornet is going to be super-fidelity so waiting 'til June is acceptable to me. I would just rather get it tomorrow! :) 1 The Hornet is best at killing things on the ground. Now, if we could just get a GAU-8 in the nose next to the AN/APG-65, a titanium tub around the pilot, and a couple of J-58 engines in the tail... Cunctator
High end add ons for the civil flightsims from various developers are similarly priced since a few years. Expected this, seems to be necessary to regain to the investment these days.

Terzi
Please also consider that they make very high quality product, but it does not sell as much as GTA 5 so they have to compensate their resources. I believe that sims are for smart people ONLY so it does not sell in huge numbers. They pay tax, they pay people, they pay for research, travel, hardware etc. I think it is justified. You can wait ~1 year for 60% discount that's the best case I guess.
ED Team NineLine Posted January 12, 2018 ED Team Share Posted January 12, 2018 i love ED but this is too much. they started by taking 70$ for the harrier and keep getting the prices up now to 80$. if they wont stop now we'll see 90 and 100 bucks. and saying in the youtube video "save 20$" when the price is 20$ nore is a dirty move... dont use the hype you created for the F-18 for years to take so much money. i do belive it took them time and affort to develop it but i dont belive they need 20$ more than the regular every game price for a DLC for a game they claim is free. and dont get me wrong its more than a DLC but the price is more than the price you pay for a WHOLE game. they act like EA but they dont have the same economy' if we'll wait and show them we wont accept prices like those they will fold. someone will probably delete this post before enough people will see it but for the ones who do, think about it. ED is trying to balance bringing us the most advanced, complex and accurate modules as possible, but they have to balance that with costs of research, creation, testing and licensing with Boeing. The amount of gameplay and fun you will get from this will well out weigh the cost, especially at the current discount. Look at the A-10C and how long it has lasted, even today people pick it up for the first time and are blown away by it... 1 Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**

ED Team BIGNEWY Posted January 12, 2018 ED Team Share Posted January 12, 2018 60$ pre purchase 80$ after early access, is very good value IMHO I spend more on a single night out or a concert ticket, with a module like this I will get 1000's of hours of fun from it, a good deal for me. Sure for some it is a lot of money, but you can also wait for sales. Only you know what you can afford. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Karon
Considering how much is crap of duty + similar recycled rubbish that comes every year, well, 80$ sounds almost cheap to me :) I don't get why we get 16$ bonus though. A lot of different things go into the development of a module, right down to negotiating to get the rights to use it in DCS, it's been in play for many years now, don't kid yourself, even before anyone knew about it. Other things are already in play that you dont even know about, it's the way this works.
