Never tried http but if source files are the same I don't imagine it would start over.

It did when 2.0 was first released. Maybe it has changed since.

Has anyone figured out how to go from 2.2 to 2.5? I just installed new updater and am hoping that works. Someone mention putting something in the command line for 2.2. Has this been confirmed and how is it done?
Wait until the installer is available if you don't want to go from 1.5.8 beta to 2.5.

Just started my update. Apparently it's only downloading 13gb.

My question is how do I get the 1.5.8 Open beta now as I would like to get the 2.5 update, I have 1.5.8 stable version at the moment and 2.2 Alpha ??.

Cheers

Go to your install directory.. look for a bin folder. Go in there and then right click anywhere in that folder..open powershell window here.

Type dcs_updater.exe update @openbeta.

16GB here
I'm curious if it will actually move 2.2 files over like it should. It's 40% now and I started it 30 min ago.

Thanks, but it doesn't update and it shows that you are up to date with 1.5.8.
Try dcs_updater.exe update @openbeta 2.5.0.13818

Sorry, but this current "arrangement" is completely confusing for new users?!

They go to the "Download/DCS World" page and all they see is "2.1 Early Access" and "1.5" ... none of those are explicitly mentioned in this Forum thread - if they even GET to find this forum page (clicking on the News article link).

@USSR_Rik talks in his post about "1.5.8 Open Beta" and "2.2.0 Open Alpha" - none of them are on the actual Download page.

You are shooting yourselves in the foot here, imho.

New, people, who are interested and want to experience what they just saw on YouTube are going to give up, even before their first download?

I promoted the 2.5 Teaser Trailer on social media and have to explain now how to 'get the 2.5 version'.

That's not how you market your game, successfully.

I am not looking for you to explain things to ME, I am telling you, how the most simple things - if not done 'correctly' - hurt badly, what you want to accomplish: new players. New customers.

Thanks! It threw a message "version not available" ...

It seems they removed the open beta maybe?

Are you on 1.5.8 beta? If you are on 1.5 stable release you have to update to beta first. There is a thread with all the current version numbers..look through here.

I dunno if it was updated with the latest beta versions.

This is only confusing if people are on stable and beta branches. Although yes it's everywhere on social media the common user is usually on a stable branch.

All this talk of update this first and then that only applies if you are a beta user. If not, the installer will be available to download tomorrow.

Hi where is a post or information that says that a clean installer for 2.5 Alpha will be available tommorow ??, I dont want to look back through 58 pages of this thread.

As I cant now install 1.5.8 beta as it seems it been removed then this would be the only and quickest way for me to move to the 2.5 Alpha as I dont want to wait another 2weeks while its tested.

Cheers Hotdognz

If you are on 1.5.8 you should be able to get to the 1.5.8 beta by going to your install directory, go in the bin folder. Right click + shift open powershell window here:

Type in dcs_updater.exe update @openbeta 1.5.8.13716

After it is done you are now on beta 1.5.8 run the same command with just the @update and you should start gettign 2.5

The 2.5 installer will not be available for another week or so, as I have seen mentioned a few times here and on the first post of the thread.

Today is for enthusiasts, not new customers. Tomorrow is a scheduled release of a beta that may be more accessible

Customer since Flanker 2.5, here. I just upgraded to a new computer yesterday and was caught reinstalling all of DCS flavors. Sans the Open Beta, it turns out.

I don't think that a new installer will be available tomorrow. I think it's going to be weeks before we see that.

Cheers,

Hi and thanks

Unfortunately, it doesn't work.

You get a message "Version 1.5.8.13716" is not available.

Well I just spent an hour trying all kinds of things, I have the 1.5.8 beta and if the 2.5 update from the beta is now removed I'll just need to wait. Also if the 2.5 beta updater from 1.5.8 was available then when it checked the files it would have a message stating that it is unable to update.

So for now no update for me.

Strange mine just finished updating from 1.5.8 beta to 2.5. I also have 2.2 installed with Nevada but it didn't ask me about copying any files.over or if I wanted it to remove 2.2. I thought it was going to do this.
