Triple screen support

PunchOut

Recommended Posts

Is legitimate triple screen support, as seen in racing sims like Project CARS 2, Assetto Corsa, iRacing, etc. planned to be implemented into DCS?

Individual adjustments for screen size/location, pilots distance from the screen, as well as bezel size and monitor angle.

Right now, in order for my rig to have a 'proper' looking wrap effect, I need to have my FOV extremely close, which is more 'realistic' but not ideal for non-VR users, and yes, I have TrackIR.

I have tried editing/creating new and custom monitor configs as mentioned in various threads, but nothing seems to fix my wrapping/FOV issue.

Cheers.

here is an example for the iRacing graphic settings

with a triple monitor setup ...

- bezzel correction

- monitor angle

- view distance player to monitor

and folks ... it works really fine ...

and its amazing smartass.gif

is there any schedule from ED to realize more monitors in DCS in that way ?

If you can run a 3 viewport setup without your fps dropping to subzero frame rates you can try this configurator: https://fly.elise-ng.net/index.php/news/77-news-immersivedisplaypro10r1

You can create a setup and save the configurations, then check the saved configs and copy the relevant parts to your own monitor setup. I wouldn't buy the pro stuff right away, maybe it works maybe it only did long time ago.

The best triple monitor system I have found is in the new X Plane 11 setup. It's simple and it works great. DCS should look into a similar set up.

13700K, MSI Z690 D4 Edge wifi, Swiftech H360X3 Cooling with Corsair Water Block, Gigabyte 4090 OC, 64gb Trident Z 3600 CL16, Evga 850W G2 power supply, TM Warthog,  MFG Crosswinds Rudder, TrackIR 5, HP Reverb 2, Pimax Crystal

I ran the Nvidia Surround setup and never had an issue after that. The res you need will show up in DCS once you've done it.

i9 9900K @ 5.1Ghz - ASUS Maximus Hero XI - 32GB 4266 DDR4 RAM - ASUS RTX 2080Ti - 1 TB NVME - NZXT Kraken 62 Watercooling System - Thrustmaster Warthog Hotas (Virpil Base) - MFG Crosswind Pedals - Pimax 5K+

if you have 3 monitors as 3 screens you have to put the monitors with 90 degrees ....

if you have three monitors as 1 screen ... nvidia renders the picture as a flat monitor

then when you have a monitor angle of 45 degree the picture is corrupt ...

left and right picture looks closer then the center picture and this is wrong ...

the 90 degree solution is bad because your wingmen is shown in your front ... when you put the monitors at an angle less 90 degree

too much ...

3 monitor with 3 viewport works ... but

the frames decreases ... but that will be okay

the FOV could be 80 ... that is very good

the view is terrible because my monitors are standing in an angle of 45 degrees ...

and when you look around with TIR then the horizont break into the sky or into the ground

that is very anoying ...

again ... iRacing could handle 3 monitors very well and that is my wish @ ED

that is all

NVidia tell us, that this is a part of application ...

With the 3 monitor and one viewport setup the FOV is soo large and DCS freezes without an error ...

and the wingmen in your side screens are bigger than in the center screen ...

too much ...

@Coug4r

How?

Sry i linked to an older version of this configurator which still works btw but doesn't seem to be available for download there anymore, this is a link to the current version: https://fly.elise-ng.net/index.php/products/immersive-lcd-pro

Looks like it has a trial period so you might be able to create a setup and save the config. You don't need the other software, just create your setup and export your configuration. It'll export files containing info per display like:

_ = function(p) return p; end;
name = _('dcs_lcd1');
Description = 'Exported configuration with 1 projectors'
Viewports =
{
   P1 =
   {
       x = 0;
       y = 0;
       width = 1920;
       height = 1080;
       aspect = 1.777778;
       useAbsoluteFOV = true;
       useAbsoluteAnglesShift = true;
       FOV = 0.823417;
       viewDx = 0.644606;
       viewDy = 0.000000;
   }
}
UIMainView = Viewports.P1

You can combine those and put the viewport info into 1 monitor setup file.

wow .. that tool is expensive ... for one configuration ...

but ...

can you tell me something about these attributes ?

useAbsoluteFOV = true;

useAbsoluteAnglesShift = true;

FOV = 0.823417;

viewDx = 0.644606;

viewDy = 0.000000;

thx in advance

Well if you can create your setup within 28 days, it's still free.

It's been a while since i've tested that stuff.

- FOV: Field of view, self explanatory i guess

- viewDX is the yaw rotation for that viewport iirc

- viewDY is the pitch rotation for that viewport iirc

The other values i can't remember or couldn't figure out what they do exactly. For my rig a 3 viewport setup just drops the fps too much so it's not like i spent a lot of time on this app/config.

this tool does not take into account the 45 degree monitor positions ...

and DCS is not able to handle this feature ... like my iRacing example above .

0 degree with surround setup

or 90 degree with DCS setup

between these value nothing is possible.

I just DL this 3days ago and want my same set up that i have in iRacing(A2.34 2500ir) and have not been able to get it to work. I saw this post, will this setup break my iRacing setup. i run iRacing in surround. Or will i just have to use this program for both. Or worst case enable surround for iRacing and disable for DCS

thanks

I was able to set it up with my monitor angles accounted for. At least I think so..... it looked like my racing sims

Tried these settings but changed the y axis to 1080 as I have a 4th monitor on top for Helios but getting some funny results:

Viewports =

{

Top =

{

-- \\.\DISPLAY1,

x = 1920,

y = 0,

width = 1920,

height = 1080

},

LEFT =

{

-- \\.\DISPLAY2,

x = 0;

y = 1080;

width = 1920;

height = 1080;

aspect = 1.777778;

useAbsoluteFOV = true;

useAbsoluteAnglesShift = true;

FOV = 0.748042;

viewDx = 0.772075;

viewDy = 0.000000;

},

CENTER =

{

-- \\.\DISPLAY3,

x = 1920;

y = 1080;

width = 1920;

height = 1080;

aspect = 1.777778;

useAbsoluteFOV = true;

useAbsoluteAnglesShift = true;

FOV = 0.739574;

viewDx = 0.000000;

viewDy = 0.000000;

},

RIGHT =

{

-- \\.\DISPLAY4,

x = 3840;

y = 1080;

width = 1920;

height = 1080;

aspect = 1.777778;

useAbsoluteFOV = true;

useAbsoluteAnglesShift = true;

FOV = 0.748042;

viewDx = 0.772075;

viewDy = 0.000000;

},

}

Any ideas what's going on?
