TAC 14 - SEAD Tasking

Hello,

When I performed this mission I destroy the Radar vehicles & mission lanchers, etc then I went to IP ADDER (as instructed) and start a holding over ADDER, called Moonbeam21 received an AAA target and destroyed it.

Then Moonbeam21 gave me another target (SAM moving SE) I destroyed then I went back to ADDER IP, holding again and tried to contact Uzi 124.0, no response, several times.. then after a while the Examiner said: Playtime over, time to EGRESS.Ok,after shutdown the bird, "Unqualified you did poorly, etc"

Ok, I started again and I DID exactly the same thing as described above, GUESS WHAT? After shutdown: "You made it,you passed this PO".:shocking:

WHAT??

Please !! Just tell me, Sabre or any good soul, WHAT do I have to do in this mission?

I watched Recon video and he didn´t escort CHEVY flight either (like myself),so PLEASE... ,

After arriving IP ADDER for the first time WHAT do I have to do? Follow the CHEVY, OR Contact JTAc (Moonbeam21)?

I passed this PO but I still don´t know...

Thank you so much for any input,

Rgds.

Hamilton

PS. By the way, where´s the mission log located?

The 2.5 mission briefings were updated to include Mission Success Criteria so if you met everything listed there then you would pass the mission.

In your previous attempt you might have broke the hard deck or had some other problem you didn't notice. Without being able to compare both flights it's hard to say what was the thing that didn't trigger properly to cause the unqual. Since these missions are memory / flag based even some corrupted memory can cause the flags to get set incorrectly.

In mission you can view the mission log before you exit. I'm not sure you can view it after the mission - anyone?

The important thing for the TTQ campaign missions is to review the briefing material including the flight plan and any diagrams. We have added that information to the in-game kneeboard so you can bring it up while in flight (especially good if you fly VR).

Thanks Sabre,but I insist:

After arriving IP ADDER (after destroyed the Radar vehicles). WHAT do I have to do ?

Follow the CHEVY ? , Contact JTAC (Moonbeam21) ??

"In mission you can view the mission log before you exit."

But where´s the mission log located (It´s like a "txt file")?

Tks

Once you reach IP ADDER you should hear the FE say the following:

"COLT 1-1, COLT 1-2

Escort CHEVY flight to their LZ and provide SEAD support until they clear the area.

Playtime will be 15 minutes.

Engage any targets that threaten the MEDEVAC mission.

You can contact 'MOONBEAM 2-1' or 'UZI 1-1' for assistance if necessary.

Good luck!"

So your role is to ensure CHEVY gets to the LZ without getting attacked and this is best done by contacting MOONBEAM. UZI should also work but we find MOONBEAM is more reliable at spotting the targets. You are providing SEAD support so you do have to listen if CHEVY reports any threats as well. Once you eliminate any threats to CHEVY then that should be a successful mission.

Sorry I don't know how the game engine manages the mission log. I've only seen the results reported in game. If you save your .trk file you can use TACVIEW to review your mission and see what happened.

Ok, I guess I understand, what confused me was that when watching the ReconStewart video, he called 'MOONBEAM 2-1' direct without escorting CHEVY and I did the same and it worked, but I really wanted to know if this was really what I was supposed to do,i.e. call direct JTAC or escort Chevy first, or both at the same time, so I asked.

If you save your .trk file you can use TACVIEW to review your mission and see what happened.

OK, as I said I had a successful mission but since I didn´t escort CHEVY I wanted to make sure what would be the right thing to do,but I guess I got it now.

Thanks again

Does anyone have any hints on low level Mk-82APO runs? I've managed to make it through this mission, but my work at the SA-3 site was purely low level run and gun.

I thought I'd make short work of it with a Mk-82 ripple release. I got the site on my TGP, lased for range, than set my SPI at the western most radar. DSMS profile was set for ripple pair of 2, 300' apart. Well, once I turned in to the target, my SPI marker was off to the left of my HUD and the site straight ahead of me. I had CCIP CR setup, so I did a pop up on the first run here. However, having to get in a 5 degree dive for the pipper to show up while so low is not comforting.

I understand the SPI was likely off due to this being a mountainous/hilly area and the elevation not being quite right. But I thought lasing the range was supposed to help this? Even with the gun runs, I got an invalid CCIP heading west and could only make my passes heading east.

Made it through doing this, but the MANPADS in the cities sure loved seeing me there and ran through a lot of flares. I was hoping some folks here could enlighten me to making these low level runs work. I was expecting to wipe most of the site with -82's and then clean up one gun run.

Taking out the AAA and SAM on Chevy escort was simple after having to make these low level runs repeatedly in MANPAD alley.

I'm currently doing the practice mission for this one. I also had a lot of issues getting mk82 air on target 1. The spi does not stay in the proper place due to a lot of maneuvering. There are a few Sam launches that force me to go low and create sharp turns which makes the tgp go out of reference.

I can easily get the target 1 site with guns in 2 runs. I usually duck low behind the hills right before IP Mazda. I then stay at 4-5k feet and pop up over the hill and turn right head on for that Sam and radar vehicle area.

I'm having a lot more trouble with Chevy getting killed after I destroy the 2 Sam vehicles reported by moonbeam. Uzi wants you to take out some trucks in the road but by the time I find them and set my SPI for a gun run Chevy ends up being hit from other Sam launchers that are in the surrounding area. I wasn't tasked with taking those out so I just stick to moonbeam and Uzi targets.

I don't think I used my mk82's at all here due to the close proximity of all the targets around you.

I had the same issue with MANPADS taking out Chevy in the practice mission. I forgot to check the log, but I was eyes on Chevy at the moment I saw the missile plumb and it wasn’t connected to any vehicle (and it was a small plumb). I did not have a similar issue in the real mission.

Interesting I saw the same thing the first few times I tried to pass the practice misison. I've done it enough times that I think I can go on to the check ride. Chevy is always getting hit by a random Sam missile. Funny how the actual misisons sometimes behave differently, hopefully I'll pass it now.

Edit: Passed the check ride with a Q rating. Only had to take out targets from moonbeam. In the practice misison Chevy always got hit by random SAMs in the area. Also in the practice misison it seems Uzi also has targets for you but on the check ride Uzi had nothing for me after I finished Moonbeam's targets.

Unfortunately we were not able to reproduce that issue. They both made it back to the FARP in both practice and qualification missions. See our screenshot below.

Are you using any terrain mods that could change the tree height?

The flight path is the same in both the practice and qual missions so it should fail equally in both if it does.

Try a DCS Repair and see if the problem still occurs.

No mods default - I have skipped the mission anyway.

Actually happened before on an earlier version last year but they cleared it on maybe a 3rd attempt - have since totally rebuilt the PC.

The altitude of the Helicopters is not constant - so I had put it down to the introduction of collidable trees.

It would be great. Is always the following heli that crashes into the trees.

I tried to shut down before they crash and didn't do it for a few seconds.

When will you try to patch this?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi, I'm having the same issue currently on 2.5.5 stable version. Neither AAA or SAM was able to fire on Chevy. I destroyed them both long before they could get close to friendly site and then one of the helos crashed into the tree and the mission was failed.

Is there a possibility that campaign is not updating properly together with newer versions of DCS? I installed this campaing about 2 years ago and since then nothing was reinstalled.

I don't believe ED back propagates fixes to older releases.

You could uninstall and reinstall the campaign to see if it will provide the latest files.

There is a new patch coming for 2.5.6 on May 20th which hopefully will fix alot of issues with the current release.

Hi. Just to let you know and anybody else having the same issue. I moved to current Open Beta 2.5.6.50726, reinstalled the DLC and first contacted UZI instead of MOONBEAM. Don't know which one of these helped, but it is working for me now.

By the way on briefing page there is an information that UZI radio frequency is on 124 AM, but I had to switch to 127.5 AM to contact him.

Thanks!

This mission is bugged on current OB. Helicopters are just going down without being shot at by anyone. I did destroy target 2 and target 3 very early. The target 4 was approaching on the road, but was still outside of its WEZ and did not shoot. No Red SAM/AAA shot at the Helis. They just hit the ground. I attempted the mission 3 times already with the same result. Also tried reinstalling the mission to no effect.
