Crash after GPU update

I don't know the answer to your issue, but you won't lose any activations if you de-activate each one before you reinstall DCS.

Simplest way is to use Skatezilla's utility, or just run the xxx_protect.exe in each of your aircraft/terrain/campaign folders.

My guess here would be the memory leak ED are looking into is crashing your display driver, we need to wait for a fix, and ED are working hard on this at the moment.

Dont reinstall, you can try a cleanup and repair, a guide can be found in my signature below

This is an uneducated suggestion but did you try deleting the fxo and metashader folder and let them recreate by launching DCS?

Maybe there is attributes generated for these shaders specific to your GPU.

Could be nonsense but since you're waiting anyway...

Hi,

I just updated my GPU with a 1060 6GB.

I did all the actions with DDU to upgrade to the last driver but as soon I launch DCS, when I choose a mission after the loading I get a black screen and the game crashes to desktop.

Here my log

I would say there is a major issue with your graphics card driver, there is a mass of DX11backend "DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED failures in the log file.

I noticed that you have windows 10 and 390.65 of nvidia graphics driver, I had major problems with that version with my GTX-780 (made my complete windows unusable, so I would highly recommend that you once again uninstall the graphics card driver and run version 388.71 and then do the standard DCS cleanup and repair.

Helped this guy with similiar issues.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion but unfortunatelly driver 388.71 is not detecting my new hardware.

It seems that my card is from 2018 and has as device id 1C06 that is not supported by the driver 388.71 (last of 2017) but only from 2018 drivers...

So I'm here waiting to fly with DCS...

any update for my situation?

Far enough about the driver version, but the issue is related to video drivers and how your video card is performing.

FAULT:

The error "DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED" = Your card has been removed whilst in use or the device drivers have failed and mimics the removal of the graphics card. (This is not specific to DCS, can happen with any DX11 / 12 games such as ARMA 3, Crysis3 and many others.

CAUSE:

  1. Common cause may be an overclocked graphics card (doesn't matter if it is a factory overclock or not), try using MSI afterburner or other utility to drop the core speed a fraction to the reference speeds for your chipset and you may need a small voltage boost also.
  2. Under powered PSU may limit the video card also.

I would test with GPU-Z utility to see what your graphics card is up to under load with DCS or other hi-end games. See if you get any error messages from windows about stalled video card driver.

Might also try reloading DX11 or DX12 if available.

Just a couple of google ref:

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Crysis-Games/DXGI-ERROR-DEVICE-REMOVED/td-p/1118490

Might try this registry edit, do at your own risk, I have no idea what this is doing ???

Thank you for the reply,

I have tested what you suggested by decreasing the values of the video card but nothing. I tried also the game in low graphic settings but without succes.

I reinstalled direct x 11 but still same problem.

I can play Il2, Wt, Bliz without problems but DCS is not accepting my new card.

What can I do more?

You are welcome, Not much, but on looking up the problem this might be you only savior, worth a try, a work around maybe, but not a proper solution in my book:

Read first post to see what one user did.

How to patch the registry:

All I can offer, as it seems to be a common problem.

No way... it seems I can not play with it :(

I tried all, also registry edit does not work.

I did also a clean reinstall... nothing

a Windows reinstall... nothing

last test should be to go back to old graphic card but I will not do it... I will play something different that works...

The last patch has improved memory, but more optimisations are to come.

I would recommend following my crash advice in my signature.

remove any unofficial mods ( if any )

and also a fresh gpu driver install just to rule that out.

Use DDU to remove the old driver and install a fresh one
