Oculus Rift not being detected in 2.5

So when I upgrade to 2.5 Open beta I removed my old versions since 2.5 is the wave of the future. I've been flying 2.5 with my trackIR for a couple weeks now and wanted to get back to VR flying.

I hooked up my oculus rift, made sure it was working by checking out the home area, and then launched DCS 2.5. DCS launched like it normally does, when the VR isn't plugged in. I went to the VR section in options to make sure it can detect the headset when it's plugged in - and it's checked. But it seems like it doesn't detect it.

Thinking it might be an oculus issue, I played some oculus games and they ran without issues. Anyone else having problems with Oculus Rift and 2.5, or just me?

Check that the use VR in the settings is checked in DCS

Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment.

Gazelle Mini-gun version is endorphins with rotors. See above.

Currently rolling with a Asus Z390 Prime, 9600K, 32GB RAM, SSD, 2080Ti and Windows 10Pro, Rift CV1. bu0836x and Scratch Built Pedals, Collective and Cyclic.

In the options settings I went to the VR tab and it's checked in there as I said in my original post. Is there another place to check for that setting?

There is a setting in oculus home which says something like "allow third party games". Long time since I saw it, so cannot quote actual wording. Check that is on.

DCS also has the "detect VR headset" option, but you say that is checked.

Only other thing I can think of is to disable and re-enable headset in device manager to reload the drivers.

I have had no problems with Rift being detected.

The only issue that I have been having, is a lower framerate inside the headset than what the game actually renders: I bring up the framerate with ctrl+pause and it shows a rock-solid 45 fps, but inside my headset it feels like the framerate is lower than 10.

This doesn't happen all the time, and can pop-up during a mission at a time where there's no reason for the framerate to drop that badly.

Sometimes alt-tabbing a few times works, or launching the Oculus application, but not always. It's quite annoying...

I use the DCS Configuration Manager to run either with or without Oculus Rift and it handles everything flawlessly.

Elysian Angel - I had the same issue than you a couple of times, always with the FC3 Su-25. Last time it happened at the beginning of mission for 30 seconds (fps steady 45 while much lower in the rift) and than the issue just disappeared. No explaination....

To OP Mt5 Roie - I had the same kind of issue : my oculus home is set to be ran in administrator mode, and if, on a fresh session, I forget to firstly launch and close oculus home 1 time (until I see oculus home menu in rift), than DCS doesn't detect my oculus rift. If I do open/close oculus home 1 time than there is no problem for DCS to detect the rift.

  • 2 months later...

Since installing 2.5.1, by Rift no longer works... the splash screen comes up in roughly square aspect ratio, then the main screen comes up, with the right edge cut off. Theme music playing inside Rift. No image in the rift, other than Oculus saying DCS is taking a long time to start.

Unplugging the rift or unchecking the start in VR mode box results in a normal 16:9 aspect window and normal gameplay.

Rift works fine otherwise.

If you updated to Rift Core 2.0 Build 1.26 mind that Oculus introduced force to have Home open. Same is on X-Plane or P3D. If home is not open Rift does not work. ;)

It does for me. I never use the Oculus application, since DCS is the only thing I use my Rift for.
