So i got rid of my 1060 6gb , now i have 1070Oc 8gb and with rift dcs 2.5 is awesome.

Runing high texture setting, vis ultra, shadows low and terrain shadows flat. DS on, AFx2 full forest slider/ low Civilization traffic , preload middle setting. No v sync

Both 1.5 PD and 1.2 PD with 2xMsaa run great, smooth as silk , no stutters.

I prefer 1.5PD , without msaa i can spot ground targets much better.

All SSD

Im so happy, and best part is that my virpil T-50 will come in week or two :)

Haha snap brother my own Virpil T-50 should be coming in a week or two! I personally am finding I like PD- at 0 and MSSA on 4x!

Btw highly recommend the Gazelle in VR it's by far my favorite module, just cant tear myself away from it! Do you like flying helicopters per chance?

It is addictive, but all the heli's are. :)

Although I'm finding PD @ 1.2 and msaa 2x to be a sweet spot for me.

Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment.

Gazelle Mini-gun version is endorphins with rotors. See above.

Currently rolling with a Asus Z390 Prime, 9600K, 32GB RAM, SSD, 2080Ti and Windows 10Pro, Rift CV1. bu0836x and Scratch Built Pedals, Collective and Cyclic.

That was my setting before I settled on the latest and it's very good but I just find the jaggies distracting and flying a Gazelle mostly don't really need to worry about cockpit clarity. I kinda care more about how things look in the distance than up close I guess, and performance seems about the same.

I have every helicopter module now! The Gazelle was my last, and each one I thought better than the last (new toy syndrome I guess) but I think the Gazelle really is special in VR due to its thrilling agility. You can fly it almost like a dive bombing roller-coaster.

Second favorite would be the Mi-8, the polar opposite I guess you could say, but really all of them are fantastic. Of course if I was actually fighting IRL myself I would want to be in the KA-50! Kind of a contradiction cause although I want realism I also like to fly arcade-y missions in which the object is simply to see how much s*it I can blow up before being blown up myself. I'm not really one for ultra realistic missions were most of the time is spent flying to an action point. That said on another sim I'm just getting into navigation now, so I think that's all going to change!

Hmm. Food for thought. I have the Asus Strix 1060 and have been trying to find a 1080ti but I may consider the 1070.

Yep, polar opposites but yes it's a hard choice between those 2 in particular. :D

I do find in practice that each of the helicopters brings it's own "special" attributes and they all build on each other.

This also means we are going to face some extreme challenges when we get more helicopters to choose from in DCS.

Each helicopter has a radically different flight model than the others, kind of like the difference between flying a Bf109 and a MiG-21. Combined with VR, there is no better experience.

I'll say. I'm pretty proficient with the Huey. But boy is the Gazelle squirrelly for me! But of course Huey came out long before the Gazelle so I have a lot more practice in it. It is more than awesome in VR, totally agree.

How many FPS you get? :) (Guy with Homer avatar who created this thread)

DCS Wishlist: 2K11 Krug SA-4 Ganef SAM, VR-TrackIR icons next to player names in score-chart

PvP: 100+ manual player-kills with Stingers on a well known dynamic campaign server - 100+ VTOL FARP landings & 125+ hours AV-8B, F-14 crew, royal dutch airforce F-16C - PvP campaigns since 2013

DCS server-admins: please adhere to a common sense gaming industry policy as most server admins throughout the industry do. (After all there's enough hostility on the internet already which really doesn't help anyone. Thanks.)

Dell Visor VR headset, Ryzen 5 5600 (6C/12T), RTX 2060 - basic DCS-community rule-of-thumb: Don't believe bad things that a PvP pilot claims about another PvP pilot without having analyzed the existing evidence

45 Fps lock, ASW always forced on.

No drops below 40 yet :)

Even big SP missions runs great, maybe baecause fast Intel.

And fast DDR4 is important for VR too , latency etc..

3000mhz DDR 4 now but i will get faster soon as possible.

That test is no go, no VR test. And in VR frames have to drawn in 11.1ms so i dont want Bottlenecks. ;)

As an aside I'm locking DCS at 45FPS with ASW enabled in Rift VR, can turn stuff down/off and get pretty much constant 90FPS but it just doesn't look that nice.

Really? I would be interesting in seeing your settings as i don't think my 1080 is enough for VR

"enough" for VR imo is when getting constant 40 or better constant 60 fps. But 90, really? lol

1070 is finally enough

I have 45, some 40 here and there.

Textures high, water high, shadows flat all. Heat Blur off, msaa off, PD 1.4 , vis range ultra, trees max , grass 1000. Water high , AF2 , no mirrors

90 if all low/min etc,. PD 1.0 but then it Looks like shit and there is still dips to 45 when ASW kicks in.

So yes, for ME 45 is ok. (ASW limits it there )

But i may try ASW off

I cant get sick in VR anymore, even 30fps wont feel bad. And i can strafe all day long in first Person VR shooters , so least my body is VR ready :D

There is VR menu setting for PD.

Dont you have Oculus?

Settings resolution has zero effect. Its just for mirrored view for 2D monitor.
