If you start up Oculus today, and receive a box that says it can't connect to the service and it may be updating, try again in a few minutes, this is caused by an expired cert on the oculus side.

Temporary workaround:

1 - Reset the date to yesterday.

2 - Open your services list, and restart the Oculus VR service.

Permanent fix must be done on the Oculus side, and shouldn't take long, but this will get you flying immediately.

Problem with Rift runtime service today

https://forums.oculusvr.com/community/discussion/62715/oculus-runtime-services-current-status#latest

Be aware if you try your Rift today and it will not start up or start up with an error, they are aware and are working on it. Something about a possible expired certificate. Hopefully they will get a fix pushed out soon.

Did not work for me. Do you need to reboot?

Yep, I needed to reboot after date change to get it working again.

Now I've finished Rifting for a while, I changed date back to correct, just in case Windows starts complaining :music_whistling:

Thanks Skate! Worked after a reboot for me, putting the WinDate back a couple days. I'll push this to other gamers I know that are flipping right TF out right now. I can't say I blame them, this isn't even the first time OcRift has let this happen either.

One would think with their sales about to fall off due to having NO competitive unit on the way to counter the Vive 2.0 or Samsung/etc mixed units, they would be crossing t's and dotting i's and being very particular about not screwing up what they have. What an embarrassment, and a very inopportune time too as I said, what with not having a new 2.0 product on deck to counter HTC or Samsung/etc. Unreal....

I've heard pushing the date back on your PC can cause windows problems with windows update and apps. Haven't done it yet myself but on the occulus forums they recommend not doing that and waiting for a fix.

I agree, where is the occulus v2..the vive pro looks too cumbersome with it's controllers.

To all Oculus Owners

Hi

Today, there is a big problem with Oculus. It doesn't run anymore. The problem is due to a out of date certificate of VR runtimes. It's not your Oculus or your computer. We must wait a fix and Oculus team ask us to be patient. But on their own forum, many people find that they had been patient enough, since 11 hours ago that the problem is appeared and I must confess that I become a little bit nervous against them too.
