2.5 Open Beta vs 2.5 stable version

Recommended Posts

As you could notice, 2.5 stable version was relased. I haven't downloaded stable version yet.

What's your opinion, is there any noticable difference between Open Beta and stable version?

Mostly, I mean working without crashing, fps drops, lagging, etc.

Release version, ATM is running the same DCS version of the latest OPEN BETA branch, so there is no difference between them at the moment

For whatever reason, i'm getting lower frames on the stable version then the beta. I uninstalled the beta and installed a fresh copy of the stable.

I run VR with PD at 1.4. I use to be able to use MSAA at 4x with this for a minimum 45fps, now with the same settings I'm around a minimum of 25fps. All other settings are identical like, shadows, differed shading etc etc.

My Specs are

1080ti

6700K overclocked to 4.5ghz

32gb ram

Samsung Odyssey Headset

Sata SSD.

Just playing around with nvidia control panel, hoping it's something there.

It's also worth noting that using Skatezilla's Updater tool this afternoon to try and install the Nevada terrain into my "DCS World 2.5" install infact installed it into my "DCS World 2.5 Open Beta" install. Which was a little vexing.

It's not just you, 2.5 is unplayable in VR for me now, I'm running a much older setup with a 780ti and i7, 12GB ram, and a Rift. But 1.5 and 2.0 ran fine, 2.5 ran okay too until one of the more recent updates. Now I'm only getting 1 to 10 fps.

Bipper, your specs are a little low for 2.5. The graphic drain on the system has increased several times over.

Yes.

Go to your DCS main folder, bin folder. Click once on the bin folder and then while pressing LEFT SHIFT + Right mouse button, select Open command box here ( MS DOS window )

On the MS DOS windows type DCS_updater.exe update @release

Thats all.

Or use the fantastic GUI from Skatezilla. Search for it on this forum.

Thanks, That worked...I tried manually typing it in before and couldn't work around that > symbol while in the cmd prompt but moving to the BIN folder for the start fixed...much appreciated!

Esac,

When I ran the updater as you mentioned I get DCS_Updater 2.6.25.40 and then 2.5.0.15365.345 is up to date.

Thats correct.

Thats the latest Release Version for DCS. You already have the last one. V61 wanted to change his Open Beta 2.5.1 to Release 2.5.0 without starting from zero.

Oh, i see.

Then is the same procedure but use instead:

DCS_updater.exe update @release

I really recommend using the fantastic Skatezilla GUI program, is amazing for this.
