DCS still not updating when running "DCS_updater.exe" without "@update" command

always attach your dcs.log and in case's where it is update related attach your autoupdate_log.txt from the dcs root.

Oh wait, or should the Openbeta update only work with the "openbeta" command? Is that intended by ED?

the update is working fine for me.

 

if you are using command prompt from the bin folder just use

 

dcs_updater.exe update

 

or use just double click the dcs_updater.exe

 

or the shortcut provided by ED in the start menu

As I said, game did NOT detect update without adding "autoupdate" into my DCS_updater exe shortcut on my desktop.

your target in a shortcuts properties should look like this example below ( your path and drive may be different )

That's what I meant. so ED does not intend to update it to openbeta WITHOUT the "update" in target, correct? (so it only stays on "release" version when updating without that command?)

 

 

(and yes ofc. I am updated after I forced the update... as I said, I already was 99.5 % sure that ED's code overwrites the autoupdate.txt completely upon an update instead of merging the new autoupdate.txt or creating a "autoupdate2.txt".)

you only need to use the @openbeta if you are changing the install from release.

 

if you are updating the openbeta or the release you just use update.

Ooooh you mean I STILL have to add "update" into target in DCS_updater.exe? (makes no sense to me but I'm sure ED has their reasons)

It only Checks ONCE every 24 hours, unless you Choose the UPDATE Shortcut.

There's no Point in Checking for an update Everytime you launch DCS, which is why there is a 24 Hour Timer.

Updater Checks for Update Say 15 Hours Ago, No Update, Launch DCS World

 

15 hours Later Update is released,

DCS World Shortcut Launches DCS_Updater.exe

24 Hour Timer has Not Passed, Does not Check for Update, Launch DCS World

 

Again, Working as Intended.

I don't see a point of this (unless to reduce load of ED update server maybe?), openbeta players want the game to pop up message "new patch, update now?" as soon as patch is out when players start the game, currently very complicated to add "update @openbeta", then update, then again remove "update @openbeta" from target line, this whole procedure everytime ED releases a hotfix or patch.

That's why the UPDATE Shortcut is in Start Menu/Programs/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/

Ok but the udpater from the start menu doesn't automatically start DCS when no patch is detected.
