HMS Hermes R12 Released V2.5

Great work on the on this Joey45 very much appreciated. I am trying to create a VR scene with the Hermes but for the life of me i cant change the liveries to the R12 and I am only getting the default . Can anybody help?

 

 

This is how the Lua is set up:

Set the hermes to UK in teh ME.

 

I'll be unlocking the liveries in the next patch anyway.

It probably uses the default livery then.

 

But try to set t to UK in the code anyway.

You should be able to.

 

I don't know where mods are installed for the steam version.

 

For the stand alone it goes in the saved games folder.

I scanned the thread quickly but maybe I missed it - are you still working on adding catapults?

 

Also, is this ship physically big enough to operate F-18s?

 

My thought is that as a fictional scenario/mission this could be used to run RCN F-18s - maybe make a skin similar to the HMCS Bonaventure skin for the Stennis but call it the HMCS Warrior (re: old Colossus class).

It operated the buccaneers ... which are similar (heavier) sized aircraft, it was originally proposed that they operate phantoms, but it would only have been able to do so with a reduced fuel load, making it impractical, they were also huge. They had about 7 or so Bucaneers and 12 sea vixens. I would imagine you could get 2 squadrons of f18 if you reduce the gannets and replace them with seaking aew

I have another carrier that is more suited to the Hornets and Tomcats.

 

Like speed-of-heat said the Cats were too weak for the Phantoms and the arrester gear and deck would of had to be strengthened which would not of been coast effective So they converted her to a Commando ship in 71 then latter in the mid 70s added ASW gear then in 81 a STOVL.

 

But saying all that...... Yes I am working on a CATBAR 1969 version which I hope the A-4 mod will be able to use.

I'll be releasing just the Lua files so the harriers take off on the centre line until ED do their thing about the spawning.

 

 

The runway(s) will be down the centre line but I'll leave the ramp start locations active.

 

 

Moving the heli spots won't be doable because you can't rotate them.

absolutely sucks that the Hermes carrier mod broke after this patch update, is an awesome mod.

I think the core carrier code is in the process of being updated/ changed as there is now 3 types of fixed wing take off from 3 types of airframe..
