Jamesp1
I have the default VR settings with the following adjustments: Visible range: Extreme Global cockpit lighting: On Supersampling: 1.2 Trees visible range: 100% Civilian traffic: high (this setting make no difference to my fps whether I have this off or high, yet I'd have thought my system would be CPU limted). This seems to give me 45 fps everywhere (with ASW) on any map except over Dubai: There I get a very consistent 22-23 fps, or 30 if I reduce the visible range to 'low'. My PC is an i5-2500k overclocked to 4.7ghz, 1080 overclocked by 200 Mhz clock and 300mhz RAM, and 16 GB of 1600Mhz RAM. So it's not that new but it still decent. Is anyone getting much better framerates over Dubai? Edited May 27, 2018 by Jamesp1

FragBum
Yes mostly 45FPS however with drop frames depending on where and what I am doing, I fly mostly Gazelle and low (except when diving off a building). I'm thinking the performance hit is DCS as I have notices a performance hit on all maps, Normandy the most. It's early days and I would expect there will be some optimisations coming. Low flying the grass clumps in PG map seem to cause issues turning down grass and clutter seems to affect FPS. Flying over structures, buildings rock and water seem fine with good smooth motion and constant 45FPS. But not those sparse grass/tree areas. I'm running:- PD @ 1.1 MSAA @ 4 AF @ 2 Vis Range Extreme Which is what I ran pre the latest update and a drop frames (stutter) was rare and to me looks awesome in VR whilst keeping GPU usage ave 70 to 80% with spikes. Once GPU usage hits 100 % FPS starts to drop off from 45FPS with ASW on. i75930 @ 4.7Ghz 1080Ti @1.97Ghz 64GB DDR4 @2.4Ghz 2 Intel 500 GB SSD's YMMV Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment. Gazelle Mini-gun version is endorphins with rotors. See above. Currently rolling with a Asus Z390 Prime, 9600K, 32GB RAM, SSD, 2080Ti and Windows 10Pro, Rift CV1. bu0836x and Scratch Built Pedals, Collective and Cyclic. fitness88
The average system should be able to run at 50-75% of options maxed and a top system should be able to run options at or near 100% maxed out...otherwise why have those levels of options available? However I don't think there is a system that can come close to running DCS options maxed out. Why is this? Is this the way it is with most other high end games or sims? Jamesp1
Visible range: High Civilian traffic: Low Yes, I originally had those settings. I was just playing with visible range so gave another fps figure for the low setting. I agree high is probably the best compromise though. Civilian traffic I'm not that bothered about but I've tested it carefully several times and do not see any difference at all to my framerate even though I'd have expected my pc to be cpu limited. lemoen
That visibility range is going to kill your CPU.

pimp
What´s the goal range for FPS on DCS? 45 or 90? For DCS it's 45. I can't even imagine getting a steady 90 fps in VR. Maybe vulkan api will make it possible. i9 9900k @5.1GHz NZXT Kraken |Asus ROG Strix Z390 E-Gaming | Samsung NVMe m.2 970 Evo 1TB | LPX 64GB DDR4 3200MHz EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra | Reverb G1 | HOTAS Warthog | Saitek Flight Pedals
BeastyBaiter
45 fps for me with 1080 ti and 8700k. Limiting factor is cpu. It's 100% on the main thread in an empty mission with view distance at high. Caucuses is about the same, NTTR typically gets 90 fps outside vegas though. System specs: i5-10600k (4.9 GHz), RX 6950XT, 32GB DDR4 3200, NVMe SSD, Reverb G2, WinWing Super Libra/Taurus, CH Pro Pedals.

Thank you pimp, I got 90 on Assetto Corsa so made me wonder why frames are "low" when flying. i5 8400 | 32 Gb RAM | RTX 2080Ti | Virpil Mongoose T-50 base w/ Warthog & Hornet sticks | Warthog throttle | Cougar throttle USB | DIY Collective | Virpil desk mount | VKB T-Rudder Mk IV | Oculus Rift S | Buddy-Fox A-10 UFC | 3x TM MFDs | 2x bass shakers pedal plate| SIMple SIMpit chair | WinWing TakeOff panel | PointCTRL v2 | Andre JetSeat | Winwing Hornet UFC | Winwing Viper ICP FC3 - Warthog - F-5E - Harrier - NTTR - Hornet - Tomcat - Huey - Viper - C-101 - PG - Hip - SuperCarrier - Syria - Warthog II - Hind - South Atlantic - Sinai - Strike Eagle
