Sydy
Operation Neighbourhood Watch A four-mission mini campaign for the F/A-18C in the Caucasus This campaign might be nice for the "beginner" Hornet-driver (just like myself). You can expect limited enemy SAM activity, enemy aircraft that more or less match the F/A-18C's current A/A capability (limited range), loadouts can be changed as desired and no addons required. I do however advise using the open beta version of DCS World, as I used JTAC - MAV combination for one of the missions. It will also work for non-beta users, but you might want to change loadout on that particular mission. Also the campaign facilitates trying out the new FPAS page and the use of JHMCS and aim-9x. The missions contain: close formation flying, regular ground attack, JTAC ground attack, aerial refueling if required/desired and A/A combat. I tested it myself (in VR) and it all seems to be working fine, but please inform me if you encounter any problems or horrible typing errors Edit: Forgot to mention; I highly recommend not using external views (F2), to increase immersion and avoid "spoilers". Also there are lots of friendlies in the sky so be careful what you engage. IFF is still very much WIP so there's a good reason to first visually identify your target (which is a neat opportunity to play with JHMCS! :) ) Hi, Mission 1 is not working properly. I intercepted the plane, followed it to wpt 2, did an in-flight refueling for the practice and rtb. I got a "campaign failure" message right after. Maybe some trigger is broken or something. I'd recommend to include in the briefing the frequencies: Texaco 251 Awacs 251 (usually they are different frequencies) Flight 305 Senaki 261. I will test it again when you fix it. All the best, Sydy

All the best, Sydy Thanks for the feedback! Strange though, that the trigger didn't work. the escorted aircraft has a simple fly over trigger at its WP2 (just over the border). Not much that can go wrong there. Trigger activated=mission goal I'll try to correct it and good point about the frequencies indeed Edited November 17, 2018 by sirrah System specs: i7-8700K @stock speed - GTX 1080TI @ stock speed - AsRock Extreme4 Z370 - 32GB DDR4 @3GHz- 500GB SSD - 2TB nvme - 650W PSU HP Reverb G1 v2 - Saitek Pro pedals - TM Warthog HOTAS - TM F/A-18 Grip - TM Cougar HOTAS (NN-Dan mod) & (throttle standalone mod) - VIRPIL VPC Rotor TCS Plus with ALPHA-L grip - Pointctrl & aux banks <-- must have for VR users!! - Andre's SimShaker Jetpad - Fully adjustable DIY playseat - VA+VAICOM ~ That nuke might not have been the best of ideas, Sir... the enemy is furious ~ GUMMBAH
bolek
I am not positive but I think there is a small bug that you need to end the mission as soon as you get the mission success message, while the bandit is still in the trigger zone. If you RTB and land the bandit will get out of the zone and the mission will fail, even if you got the mission success message.

Turnip
ONW MISSIONS: On mission 3, I fly to the IP and contact JTAC. Approach the target and request LASER ON. I get a good lock with the MAVS but when I fire, I get the ABORT ABORT ABORT, You do not have permission to fire. What am I missing?
bolek
I downloaded the updated files and I think there is an issue with the campaign progression. On mission failure the result is 0, which drops you back one stage (forcing you to redo the mission that was already successful). From the manual If mission total values are 49 or lower, the player will fall back one stage. If the value is 50, they stay in the same stage. If the mission total value is 51 or above, the player will advance to the next stage. So, the result should be 50 on mission failure and greater than 50 on mission success but never less than 50 (assuming you want the campaign to progress linearly). Sydy
Hi guys, I'd like to recommend you a new campaign: The Serpent's Head! I Flew the entire campaign and strongly recommend you to fly it if you like the F/A-18C. Extremely well design with feasible missions and very nice story line. My tips are: mission 3 is very difficult (after 4 tries, I had to bypass it - my bad!) and on mission 6 orbit only North of wpt 4. Congratulations Glynlewis. His material is Prime!!! I hope you guys enjoy this campaign as much as I did. All the best, Sydy

OK some tips 1.0 Mission 3 : As you are having to run in on Gori on a certain line to correctly carry out the photo reconnaissance exercise you can only jink the SAMs vertically. I fly in low and fast. when the SAMs start to fly I fly at 45 degrees up to cloud base. Just before the SAMs get just over half way turn upside down and pull down to the ground hard letting of a group of about 6 to 8 chaff at the start of your decent. You should lose them. Once you get over half way on the run you will descend below their line of sight. Its not easy but can be done its all in the timing. 2.0 Mission 6 : The instruction is to orbit about way point 4. You can in fact go up to 9 NMs south of the way point. Set WP4 on your HSI and make sure you stay around it. Hope this helps Edited December 17, 2018 by Glyn F/A-18C Campaigns : The Serpent’s Head / The Serpent’s Head 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5.0Ghz / Gigabyte 2080ti water force extreme / 32 Gb RAM Corsair Dominator Platinum 3600 / 2Tb Samsung 970 Evoplus NVMe M.2 / Thrustmaster Warthog Hotas / Thrustmaster Pedals / Valve Index. Badger633
You have quite a wide margin. To be honest the main test is getting past the SAMs. Follow my recommendations it's the only way I have beat the SAMs. Once you beat the first two missiles you can go low and the terrain will obscure the first SAM site. At Gori you might not want to be lower than 10000 feet as there are a lot of guns and much higher as you come out of Gori there are more SAMs. At 1000feet you will be obscured by terrain east of Gori . You also need to take some good snaps as well. Just noted a stupid error in my recommendation of course should be a series of chaff not flares for the SAMs Edited December 17, 2018 by Glyn F/A-18C Campaigns : The Serpent’s Head / The Serpent’s Head 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5.0Ghz / Gigabyte 2080ti water force extreme / 32 Gb RAM Corsair Dominator Platinum 3600 / 2Tb Samsung 970 Evoplus NVMe M.2 / Thrustmaster Warthog Hotas / Thrustmaster Pedals / Valve Index. Procrastinator55
Operation Sea Scorpion "Hunters" This is the third part of a campaign that I'm currently developing. I have about four missions finished, I'm just waiting on some features of the Hornet to be released. Anyways, in this mission, you are a part of a three element flight tasked with eliminating enemy air patrols over the UAE. Mission is complete with voice overs (some text to speech, some my voice) dusk/night TOD, cool guard channel radio chatter, and a CASE III recovery with proper information. Works in both SP and MP and has been tested many times in both. MP is 2 player co-op. (Can be more if you edit if you so desire) Please give feedback!
