Same Question.. w/Pics.. CPU/GPU utilization

Recommended Posts

So i know ive posted this a couple times, but im wondering if full screen mode needs some sort of optimization.. For whatever reason, it uses significantly more CPU than running DCS in Windowed Full Resolution mode.. It would suggest that it may inhibit some of our Digital Aviators performance capabilities.. here are a few screens to illustrate the difference.

I have also noticed that GPU utilization varies slightly between the two but pretty minimally.. At times, the primary CPU core can become fully saturated at 100% when in Fullscreen mode, likely building heat.. Oddly, It also has high usage when in the Main Menu Screen.. seemingly unnecessarily.. anyway,.. any ideas??? just hopin to help make the best of our hardware resources..

Also, the dips in Fullscreen cpu utilization on the graphs are from screen capture in windowed mode... otherwise, it stays quite high at all times.

just dont use FS, with borderless window mode it's the same for the eye and you can have things like SRS App open as well, which does not work in FS.

FS is not desired anymore tbh. I had to accept this too, it's new...LoL

uh so no more need for alt+enter?

Have you also removed fullscreen option from settings menu?'

Depends on personal preferences. For example I cant's stand screen tearing so I need NVidia-forced V-sync + full screen to get rid of it for good.

Ditto. Screen tearing is a real immersion killer for me so like you I ALT+ENTER and have nvidia set to force v-sync. I have no need to run the game higher than my screen refresh rate so having it clamped at 60hz gives me super smooth feel.

I don't think borderless window gives you that kind of control because the OS thinks your app (DCS) is just a normal window'd program running on the desktop.

...well, i just run in game vsync locked at 60 and run in borderless windowed mode.. no tearing over here... but there is the strange cpu utilization that occurs if the game is run in fullscreen mode.. it just uses more cpu for some reason in fullscreen..
