bug notice @Alpenwolf @rossmum:
current mission at timestamp, "Swedish Delivery".

RED FARP SHPORA , Mi-24, Slot 2 - again warehouse bug (might or might not apply to BLUE FARP too. depending what FARP has already been exhcanged).
No AAMs, no ATGMs, no gunpods, no fuel tanks available.
UB32 pods B-8V20A in limited quantities as set (240 total, that is the rocket total, not the pods, jic).

Mission therfore currently unplayable for Hind module (slot 2).

Operation Into The Desert:
- UH-1's and their FARP's were deleted and recreated from scratch. Hope this fixes the issue.
- Hawk SAM site units blocking the runway at Lar Airbase were moved further south.

* Operation Search & Destroy kicks off this Friday, 04.02.2022, around 1900 zulu.

* Operation Battle Over Sukhumi Unleashed kicks off this Saturday, 05.02.2022, around 1800 zulu (1800, not 1900).

Hello All,

475th Fighter Group is interested in forming a group of those interested in more team oriented gameplay in Alpenwolf's Cold War 1947-1991 server.

As regular flyers in Alpenwolf's Cold War 1947-1991 server, we are interested in creating a process for impromptu Strike Packages during normal server play.

We want to be able to quickly organize and execute complete strike packages tailored to the mission and objective.

These packages can consist of any or all of the following elements: Air Superiority/Fighter Sweep, SEAD/DEAD, Precision Strike, Close Air Support(Fixed and Rotary Wing), Helicopter Transport, Helicopter Assault, Combined Arms/JTAC, FAC, and GCI.

Composition will be based upon the objective and player preference. 

The goal is to get guys flying, driving, and communicating in an organized fashion to increase the fun factor.

We are looking for individuals and groups interested in participating.

We will, at least in the beginning, focus on Blue Coalition.

If you or your group have interest in participating in this effort, send me a PM.

Server News:

* Operation Search & Destroy kicks off this Saturday, 12.02.2022, around 1800 zulu (not 1900).
 

* Work on a new mission has started:

- The mission will feature the Syria map.
- The A-4 mod will be included!!!
- Nuke bombs will be included (very limited (1-2 bombs max.) and not everyone will have access to them).
- Actual sling loading of nuke bombs and ammo crates will be included.
- CTLD will probably be included, but very limited. It'll come to me while designing the mission as it always is the case on how limited CTLD will be, if included at all.
- The mission will be hosted once a week, mainly on the weekend, like Search & Destroy, Battle Over Sukhumi Unleashed and Prince of Persia.


The A-4 mod:

You don't have to install it to fly the mission. It'll appear as a Su-27 to those who don't own the mod. If you're flying on Red and you see a "Su-27", then obviously it's an A-4 and it's hostile. If you're flying on Blue however, then it's friendly. I'll have a message appearing every 3 minutes for 10-20 seconds to remind players of that, to hopefully prevent chaos. We'll see how it goes.

The mod is 1 or 2 GB's if I'm not mistaking. Therefore, even if you're not planning on flying the A-4 you might want to install it nonetheless, to get the full immersion and experience of fighting or escorting it throughout the mission. Again, you don't have to do so.
Once the mission is hopefully finished, I'll always include the latest version of the mod next to the date and time of the event, so that players always have the same A-4 version.

The mod will remain as part of this one mission and not become part of the daily missions. This is in order not to force anyone to get it. And if I'd ever force anything it'd be comms and teamwork, but you know that already. Better get somewhere without forcing anything though 😉

The A-4 mod is really a nice addition, as it unfortunately will never be an official module, at least not from this "team".
It is also wise to couple it with a Syria mission, as this already is a problem preventer.
Thank you and that mod is really not big (I think I should reinstall it) and also quite nice (ground power is an actual generator 😉 ... )

I have a different question though:
As the placeable NDBs/"free" RSBN channels/"free" TACAN beacons/placeable beacon assets are still a drama ("a little more patience.." - yes, Eagle, it has only been 4+ YEARS, only!) on all maps -> what is the situation with the ATC vehicles (antenna trucks) that are placeable assets and are parked at all FARPs and Roadbases in duplicate (at least) and could be placed at other locations too.

Does the loop-transmit with a (strangely mandatory) soundfile work on a dedicated server?
And could this - if the loop transmit frequencies are chosen wisely - not be used to have working mission beacons at least for ARK, DISS-15, Eukalypt M-24/M-863 and combinations thereof and in combination with the "fixed" beacons available?
(no, please don't ask me about the correct BLUFOR counterpart labels, my Viggen uses smoerebroed alien ufo tech from a timetravel wormhole)

Especially for the more challening missions with more players and higher intensity on more barren (PG) or more complex (Syria) maps this would help everyone but especially all rotaries and attackers, while not placing extra burden on the far and few GCI's.
It might also help with terrain usage for bomb trucks and GA's when no Merlin/Magic is online or available in asymmetry - imho ofc and make longer legs and approaches interesting (for those that are zen enough and enjoy the full fidelity loop).

A vital piece that helps keep missions dynamic and interesting. It provides some hope for defence and support, particularly when there is only one chopper working in the support role, and that is fairly often. I hope you don't see this role as some sort of "bonus" to the team. It would exist in some form in every combat situation using ground forces. Many of the missions have been cut pretty thin already, removing it completely does improve them, in my opinion. 🙂

The mission was online for the first time after yesterday's update. Must be a missing asset as it's quite often the case after a reboot of the server.

- Operation Into The Desert remains without rain.
- The idea is to move the rainy weather from one mission to another, but one at a time. I know it's a tough challenge for the planes we have, but I hope you welcome challenges like that.

I don't really have an issue with weather. Used to fly in it for a living.

My issue is with what it does to gameplay.

If Reds have face-shooters, they fly around on top of the weather and the smart Blues stay on the deck. Dull.

Even without face-shooters, the air to air fights get intensely boring with a cloud deck to hide in, playing hide and seek in and out of clouds. Again, dull.

If you want really challenging weather, make it really low and really thick. 500 foot AGL ceiling with clouds layered through 25,000 feet. The kind of weather that requires some real navigation skills to get anything done at 500 knots.

There won't be much air to air action but strikes would be a hoot.

PS: Rain doesn't show up in VR 😀
