Hi,

My stepdad was flying with me and another guy and his first takeoff was fine. Then he couldn't get in the air the rest of the time we played and said he couldn't steer properly. We looked at his F15C and could see he was having rudder issues so we had him check the calibration etc in DCS and also in Win10. He could use the rudder properly in another game (BF4) so that left us somewhat confused. Also, while this was happening the keyboard commands for the rudder did not work as normal. Is there a DCS system file checker available? What is the best next move to fix this issue? He is running the stable v2.5 on his system.

Thanks,

DB

By "steer" do you mean on the ground? Just to be sure, he knows he has to engage and disengage nosewheel steering mechanism using separate commands, doesn't he? I don't know how it's emulated in F-15 because I don't own this plane, but that's something to keep in mind.

As for the rest of the questions:

a) game repair command works like a file-checker. You'll find it in your ED shortcuts in Windows menu;

b) whenever a new player suffers from some wacky control issues, it's good idea to double check control options page for duplicated (and thus conflicting) key/button/axis assignments, which are traditional pain in the backside of DCS.

Art,

Thanks for the info. He knows about the "S" key for the steering and the rudder issue exists on the ground and in the air. I told him how to repair the game files and also told him to check for duplicate assignments but I think he only assigned one shortcut and of all things, it was the "S". :smilewink: I am having him remove the Logitech driver and even remove the device and then reinstall with the WIN10 driver and test it and take notes. He is using a USB 2.0 port too so that is not the issue.

Thanks,

DB

^ It's not about what he has assigned, but what DCS has stupidly autoassigned itself the very moment he plugged the stick in :D. Tell him to browse all pages of controls and check if rudder function is not "accidentally" assigned to multiple inputs. Damn, I'm sure it is.

Won't help with Logi software (I avoid installing any profiler software for my controllers, because in my opinion they cause more harm than good. Drivers only is the way to go for me) or with Win10, as I'm still on 7.

Ok, I will tell him. Thanks for the followup.

Just a followup on that rudder problem...it seemed to have fixed itself. I sent him all the info to try to fix it and he said he is only having problems with 1 aircraft now with the ground steering (SU27). So I don't know if it was a Win10 thing or a reboot, or a glitch...
