amalahama Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Hi guys. The thing is that DCS maps have a pretty decent coverage overall, but the high detailed parts are really limited in extension. Honestly, today it's pretty easy to automatize basic scenery generation based on open-source vectorial info (e.g. OpenStreetMap), so I don't understand why ED doesn't add a bit more of detail (like towns, roads...), with generic buildings maybe, extending the whole scenery. Yeah flying over Las Vegas or Abu Dhabi is great with all the special scenery objects but having an extended scenary is more useful most of the time. I know this is a cry in the desert. But it's sad how limited the detailed coverage is in most of the scenaries. Regards!
Silvern Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Persian Gulf map will hopefully be expanded soon with Kerman and Shiraz. Fingers crossed.
Captain Orso Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 IIRC it costs big money to use someone's geographic source to create a 3D map. There are some sources you can use privately for free, but ED would be publishing for profit, and would therefore have to pay fees. When you hit the wrong button on take-off System Specs.
