Hi.

I know it was mentioned several times in other forums and posts that it would be nice to have a name from the logbook displayed under the canopy.

I wish it was implemented and to even greater extent.

What if we were able to map pilot's name set in Mission Editor to a placeholder under the canopy?

Pretty much similar to how the tail numbers work currently.

 

Feel free to vote in favour if you feel alike, and if you really dislike this idea and have a strong urge to show this... well, the option is there.

Tail Numbers are Meshes cut from the Main Mesh w/ a Sliding 0-9 texture.

 

to use that idea for names, then you would need to have up to 14 Boxes cut with a moving texture map using A-Z Texture, it's not very justified, especially when you add in localizations.

 

it's easier to just add it to the livery yourself in photoshop,

This reminds me of modifying liveries on olde flight simulators to display kills, I wonder if there's any interest in that... though some might be a tad... unique

I thought pilots were never assigned a specific jet? They fly whatever is available that day.

 

True, but they still get their name on a jet in the squadron they are assigned to.

Please, god no. That would make a dozen new lines in the description.lua file to replace the default texture to « EMPTY » on normal texture and specular/roughmat textures when creating a livery, that would be long and boring. :)
