SuperKungFu
I was just curious after reading the other thread about the streak eagle, which plane performed better? And how many of those records set during the time these 2 planes took off still stand today? Streak Eagle P-42 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GGTharos
The P-42 took the streak eagle's records back in the day. Mind you the differences weren't extreme - just on the order of a few seconds. The F-15E with the 229's can probably take all of the P-42's records without modification, and the F-22 will basically blow anything out of the water more likely than not, in that respect. Frostie
How did I know an F-22 was going to sneak into this thread , probably the 'A versus B' bit.:D "[51☭] FROSTIE" #55 51st PVO "BISONS" Fastest MiG pilot in the world - TCR'10 https://100kiap.org
SuperKungFu
Has the F-22 officially set any records or is it still deamed classified? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GGTharos
Nope, still classified. On the other hand, according to definitely not classified info ... it was accelerating vertically in a climb with a combat load - the pilot had to throttle back to prevent going through mach 1 (civilian limitations) but the airspeed did not start to drop off until some some 25000', IIRC. This should give you an idea ;) Oh yeah. I'd like one 'Steak Eagle' dinner, please. Force_Feedback
Yes, there were many F-15Es, F-22s and F-302 space plane fighters back then. BTW, a Spitfire might take the climb record of a Sopwith Camel too. Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
nscode
There's about to be a P-42 mod to redeem the records.. It includes an Energia on center hook :) Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
