Hey,

Not sure if this has been brought up before, but a quick search yielded no results...

Now that the recent bugs with STT have been fixed, I have been doing some more A/A recently, and I have some concerns on the launch order of Sparrow missiles:

More often than not, with a loadout of 2*AIM9, 6*AIM7 and a centreline drop tank, the launch order has little to no regard to preserving the centre of gravity (at least in MP), and goes something like this:

Station 8 - 7 - 4 - 3 - 6 - 2.

What I would expect is this:

Station 2 - 8 - 3 - 7 - 4 - 6, which is more in line with how for example bombs are dropped. This launch order also preserves the centre of gravity better, and reduces the amount of LWD and RWD trimming needed.

I haven't noticed any link between the position of the bogey relative to the nose of my aircraft, and the number of the station that launches a Sparrow.

Am I missing something that explains this peculiar launch order? Is it possible in the real aircraft to manually select which Sparrow will be launched next?

Thanks!

(Added mention that this happens mainly in multi-player)

on the STORES page you can manually select the missile to be launched next by pressing the OSB next to the label STEP.

That's how it works in A/G master mode, yes, but unless you are running a different version of DCS than I am - or you're talking about the real aircraft, please point out the STEP-button on the screenshot below (I don't see any):

Honestly, I thougt I‘ve used it in A/A mode as well. I can‘t see it on your screenshot and I can‘t check on my own since I am away from my PC till Monday.

In case it makes a difference, my initial post is about Multi-Player: Sparrows get launched from 1 wing, and then from another.

In Single-Player, centre of gravity seems to be managed a lot better. This screenshot is from the IA AIM7 Caucasus mission:

As you can see: 1 Sidewinder left on station 9, and a Sparrow on station 3. No LWD/RWD trimming was needed while landing.

I don't know how it's supposed to work, but if you want to switch the selected AIM-7 you have to press your Sparrow-select button again and you can see the "SEL" mark on your stores page jump to the next AIM-7

Firing and Drop orders should always start from the outboard to inboards unless of course you step to a different station. Now if you want the realism, load it out as we actually would on the real A/C, try an OEF/Alert load. Sta. 5.7 D/T's, 1/9 AIM-9M/X, 1 x A7/A120 Sta. 6 and a GBU/MK 82 sta.2, FLIR of course. Make every shot/drop count.

I can't wait for 120s to be implememted bcuz the AIM-7 is unreliable in sim, just like it is IRL!

waiting patiently.......
