Sport Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Ever since the release of the Harrier, I have not had properly working RWR sounds. All I get is a chirp when a new radar is detected, but no lock, no launch tones. Is this being worked on and can we expect any sort of fix in the near future? opps Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 At least launch tone is very audible in single play. Can't understand why you miss that.
Shadow_1stVFW Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Sounds like it's hot out miss on this one. I get the tracking radar sounds and the initial chirp. It works for me in the mean time. Between the HUD, the rwr screen and paying attention, it's just fine until it gets fixed. Shadow_1stVFW Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 And the short answer is when it works. The Devs aren't allowed to release timelines. So at BEST, you might get a 'I'll check on it' or an 'it'll be in the next update'. But there is a lengthy thread covering this topic. So I assumed you didn't know or care it was there. So I'm just letting you know you can use it as a tool still. The Harrier is still in early access, and will continue to be until it's released. I'm sure no one wants to keep reading "when will x be working?" Threads. From personal experience, I also know that especially in the world of DCS, many bugs which are well known to users, are often not reported to ED or developers. By reminding and posting, it creates a demand for a fix. And developers are absolutely allowed to release timelines, though in this case, a "we're currently working on it/we have a fix in place/or/could you provide more data so we can look into it would all be welcome. I'm sure your intentions are good, but your point is moot unless you represent ED, or a developer, or can give me any useful information as to how I can fix my personal build of DCS. I apologize if my tone sounds curt, but now we have several replies to a thread that have nothing to do with the question I asked, or the bug at hand. Come check me out on YouTube! Twitch! As for @oops, you should read the forums also as this is a known issue and your experience with dcs is not the gold standard for bugs either. @sport the problem is a known issues and its a combination of Frame rates on certain rigs and playing short snippets of the sounds in the effects folder. Some can hear only a handful of sounds (still not correct rwr) others are left hearing nothing but the. 1s chirp like me. Sport here is the thread on the topic. It was last commented by Zeus in December https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=197030&page=9 I believe he knows about the issue. On page 9 there is a temporary fix you can download from exnihilodub that replaces the sounds in the RWR effects folder with unrealistic beeps however it's a temporary fix I use. Hope this helps

Angus Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Since day one i never heard anything in the Harrier. NO RWR, No betty. Just Bingo warning. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Kula66 Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 I definitely get a separate search and lock tones from an SA-3 site and a second threat on the display ... silly question; have you switched it on, turned up the volume?
DrGarantia Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Since day one i never heard anything in the Harrier. NO RWR, No betty. Just Bingo warning. Is Betty supposed to be implemented on the harrier? The only sounds I've ever heard was the bingo, master warning/caution. RWR obviously never played too, as a cold/hot start or at any position of the button too.

Not a silly question at all and certainly a valid one, but yes, I have them cranked up. I'll see if I can get a video of my current status. al531246 Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 At least launch tone is very audible in single play. Can't understand why you miss that. Your video shows a bug in of itself. The launch tone is not meant to be that strange sound. What you're hearing there is the sound file replaying itself hundreds of times a second. It's supposed to be one solid sound. This is the case for the new guy tone, lock tone and launch tone. This has been an issue on the Mirage too since it first released. So as it stands both the M-2000C and AV-8B have broken RWR's. I suspect it'll be another 10 years before it's fixed at this rate. Intel i5-8600k | EVGA RTX 3070 | Windows 10 | 32GB RAM @3600 MHz | 500 GB Samsung 850 SSD

Was unaware of the lack of attention on the M2K on this as well. Wasn’t the mirage recently pushed out of early access to a release candidate? Very sad if the case, as abysmal as the community not noticing as much in larger numbers the bug and accepting it as well. Thanks again for following this as well as the bombing modes.
