hughlb Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 This isn't as much a joystick issue, but rather, I'm finding the Hornet to have quite a large deadzone. I have my deadzone set to zero in the options for X and Y, but there is still a good couple of centimetres of movement at the top of my joystick (centre mounted extension). I have checked the joystick software (VirPil), and the joystick deadzone is far less than the Hornet deadzone itself. The F-15C for instance, has a much smaller deadzone in game. I take it this is realistic, but if not, is there a way to customise this for the Hornet? | Windows 10 | I7 4790K @ 4.4ghz | Asus PG348Q | Asus Strix 1080TI | 16GB Corsair Vengeance 2400 DDR3 | Asrock Fatal1ty Z97 | Samsung EVO 850 500GB (x2) | SanDisk 240GB Extreme Pro | Coolermaster Vanguard S 650Watt 80+ | Fractal Design R4 | VirPil T-50 | MFG Crosswind Graphite | KW-908 JetSeat Sim Edition | TrackIR 5 | [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
aaron886 Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 There is not. You shouldn't be feeling that much deadzone though, I would double check your axis settings and calibration. If you have the program DIView, use that to make sure you're getting good precision about center. With my VKB Gunfighter I can see a response from the Hornet with barely a millimeter's movement on the top of the stick.
hughlb Posted July 29, 2018 Author Posted July 29, 2018 Out of interest does your Gunfighter have an extension? | Windows 10 | I7 4790K @ 4.4ghz | Asus PG348Q | Asus Strix 1080TI | 16GB Corsair Vengeance 2400 DDR3 | Asrock Fatal1ty Z97 | Samsung EVO 850 500GB (x2) | SanDisk 240GB Extreme Pro | Coolermaster Vanguard S 650Watt 80+ | Fractal Design R4 | VirPil T-50 | MFG Crosswind Graphite | KW-908 JetSeat Sim Edition | TrackIR 5 | [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
dburne Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 (edited) I am running the Virpil stick with 150mm extension and do not have that issue. I would check the Virpil software and make sure you have no deadzone there, and if deadzone desired only set it in the DCS controller menu. Alternatively you could also try 0 deadzone in DCS and set one in Virpil software. Failing that could always try re-calibrating in the Virpil software ( never in Windows game controller). Edit: If that does not work, try resetting the Windows Game Controller to Default, then try calibrating in the Virpil software.
