fitness88 Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 Anyone have information as to the following: Are all features from the real world model planned for implementation for the DCS F-18? What percentage of the F-18 functionality is actually left to be completed? Understanding there will be ongoing tweaks after completion, is there a completion date in mind? Thank you.

fitness88 Posted August 7, 2018 Author Posted August 7, 2018 Thanks for the links. I read what has been done as well as WIP. There is however no definitive answer to my questions which leaves me to think that there has been no decision made.
Sierra99 Posted August 7, 2018 Posted August 7, 2018 What specific features are you concerned about? "Although you’ll be starting the Hornet using battery power almost all the time, the ground power electrical bus panel will also functional. However, you’d only really use this during systems tests when you do not want to start up the jet. After requesting external electrical power from the ground crew, you will enable the main external electrical power switch. With external electrical power enabled, you can use the four ground power switches that each controls a separate group of systems/instruments. The control bus for each switch is listed on placard below the DISP button." They have modeled systems that probably won't be used by normal players...what makes you think they won't model the more important systems? I find the whole process of software development to be very interesting, my questions come from curiosity.
Eaglewings Posted August 7, 2018 Posted August 7, 2018 (edited) A lot of the systems we have on the Hornet right now still requires some work to get them to completion. Subpages and features are yet to come online on the presently modeled systems. I think completion depend on how far the ED/Bel want to model the various subpages in say the HSI, DDIs, RWR, EW, Radar, Weapons, Comms for ATC and the other features yet to be added like ground radar, datalink, ATFLIR etc. IMHO, completion is relative to ED decision on how far fidelity goes for the Hornet. ED projection is to have a Hornet with a fidelity level of the A-10C, one can imagine how much work that still needs go into this amazing bird. Timeline to completion A whole lot factors comes to play when it comes to Timeline. I would say going by the rate updates and features are being added and if maintained, we should be having a very strong and feature-rich hornet by end of this year but some more time to go. Just my personal estimation though. Enjoying the ride as the Hornet comes online. StandingCow Posted August 7, 2018 Posted August 7, 2018 I thought HARMs were the priority, guess that shifted a bit since they seem to be focusing in AA weapons atm. 5900X - 32 GB 3600 RAM - 1080TI My Twitch Channel ~Moo
Eaglewings Posted August 7, 2018 Posted August 7, 2018 AGM88C HARM was mentioned as high priority air to ground weapon to come in one of Wags video. I am hoping the HARM is still in the pipeline and would come along with the Laser Guided bombs that seems to have taken priority. mwd2 Posted August 7, 2018 Posted August 7, 2018 At the moment... With summer here, things tend to slow down a bit with much of the staff taking their summer holidays. However, much of the Hornet work continues on items like the AIM-120, AIM-9X, compete AIM-7, complete RWS mode, JHMCS, LGBs, FPAS page, FM tuning, and other items. In the more near-term, here are some items coming in one of the two next updates. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3580170&postcount=70 Playing: DCS World Intel i7-13700KF, 64GB DDR5 @5600MHz, RTX 4080 ZOTAC Trinity, WIN 11 64Bit Prof. Squadron "Serious Uglies" / Discord-Server: https://discord.gg/2WccwBh Ghost0815
StandingCow Posted August 7, 2018 Posted August 7, 2018 At the moment... https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3580170&postcount=70 Yea, saw that.. I remember early days they just mentioned HARM as (if I remember right) the next system to come online. Ah well, everything is subject to change. :) 5900X - 32 GB 3600 RAM - 1080TI My Twitch Channel ~Moo

Your point is well taken about how far DCS may want to take fidelity as per the A-10C, would be great if that were realized. This is such a great plane it would be a shame not to take it as far as they can into development. As for timeline, it seems logical development eventually slows down so other projects can get underway? Edited August 7, 2018 by fitness88
