Hi

The AoA in the AV8B always seems higher than in other aircraft. Also once it gets very high in an aggressive turn the controls seem unseaponsive even at high air speed

Is this correct we should lose control

What’s the highest AoA I should be look at during ACM and for how long is optimal to maintain it like that?

Thanks

I can't give you a technical answer, going from my experiente try to keep the plane bellow 10° AoA for best energy conservation, above that the flaps will deploy quite a lot and you will bleed speed really fast, anything above 14º risks a stall and will certainly kill any energy you still had at that point.

My observation is that nearing 20 degrees AoA I lose yaw stability - presumably because the stabilizer is obscured from airflow.

Difficult to say without a track or video to show what you mean.

Your best bet would be to check out the VMAT-203 AV-8B Flight Syllabus Guide i.e. page 495, Rolling Scissors Drill

3. Once established in the rolling scissors, maneuver as per Air NTTP. Be careful about pulling too hard and bleeding energy excessively. Target 12-15 units on the pull up; unload to 0 G for the roll on top, no more than 20 units AOA on the pull down and 15 units AOA on the nose low pull up back to the horizon. Catalyst for beginning the pirouette will be 150 KCAS. Ensure a minimum airspeed of 180 - 200 KCAS is achieved as the nose is rising back towards the horizon. If necessary, unload briefly to gain minimum airspeed prior to starting back up for next roll.

and compare the values to the current DCS flight model.
