Alphamale Posted August 14, 2018 Posted August 14, 2018 Sometimes I get a caution when I jettison the fuel tank and other times not...it seems to involve FCS...any ideas why?
Frederf Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Probably there is a switch which sets FCS limits for high performance or limited for heavy loading. Caution is raised when switch position doesn't match loading. Usually AA missiles and centerline fuel tank are OK for maximum limits while other fuel tanks, bombs are not. If you start with bombs or wing fuel tanks and jettison does caution come on? Probably it won't come on if you start with only centerline fuel tank and then jettison that.

Yes, that sounds reasonable, but it's a centerline tank...If I'm going full AB at say, angels 25, and I drop the tank, I usually get the caution...One time I forgot to drop the tank and was running low on fuel...I got a caution that said EXT. XFER...which I guess stands for "External Transfer"...I have no idea what that means but when I finally dropped the empty centerline fuel tank, the caution disappeared...strange
Kerb Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 The EXT. XFER caution light comes on if you fiddle with the external transfer switches. Perhaps you set one of the switches to inhibit or override?

TechRoss Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 (edited) The EXT. XFER caution light comes on if you fiddle with the external transfer switches. Perhaps you set one of the switches to inhibit or override?I have had this caution thrown a few times with low fuel, empty center tank, and opening the probe to air to air refueling. From the NATOPS I think this can be a pressure thing. Refuel close probe and reset, all is good. Will look for the track. Edit: From NATOPS One or more external tanks failed/slow to transfer when commanded. Icing may occur in the external fuel tank pressurization system inhibiting external tank transfer and refueling. Descending and accelerating may reduce the effects of icing. External fuel available but not transferring. Edited August 15, 2018 by TechRoss Adding Into
