Would be so good if we could swap the F-15 with Hornet

What do you think guys, ED, Baltic Dragon ? Is it possible to swap the Eagles with Hornets and release a new version of this ? I would be happy to re-buy it and replay it.

Adding carrier and few A/G missions would be a bonus :)

You can include 1st mission like you arrive TO from carrier and land to the airfield and one last depart from airfield and recover on the carrier and a few cas to support georgian troops :)

But even as it is is still good as hornet even in beta can handle all the missions as good as f-15.

I'm not sure if you are aware but it is possible to open up protected DLC missions in the ME, change the player aircraft and fly the edited mission direct from the ME.

You can't save the mission or change triggers, scripts, etc. but it's ok for a 'one off flight' test.

I've only done it once (DCS 1.5.7) - Substituting a L-39 for the player F-86 Sabre in the first 'Museum Relic Campaign' mission to see how the L-39 compared given the same tasking.

Obviously YMMV with the Hornet and Georgian War missions but it might be worth a try.

I had no idea this is possible. Will try it :) Thanks.

Interesting idea, though the hornet doesn't have the legs that the eagle does. It might make some of the missions a real problem to complete, especially if you need to get somewhere in a hurry. Figured it would require a fair amount of testing in the very least

Thanks for the thought and the kind words, but I don't think it would make a lot of sense to do an official adaptation of this campaign for a few reasons.

The missions are geared exclusively towards air-to-air combat, sometimes while escorting Georgian flights that the Hornet would be better suited to the tasks of once we have things like Mavericks/LGBs and HARMs on the table.

Much of the dialogue revolves specifically around the F-15C and its capabilities, which wouldn't make sense if a Hornet was slapped in there. This would require some pretty significant rewrites of dialogue and we are no longer in contact with some of the voice actors..this would mean all dialogue would have to be re-recorded for those actors, which would mean all conversation triggers would have to be adjusted for new timing, etc. etc. etc.

You have our blessing if you'd like to swap aircraft type in the Mission Editor as Ramsay says (I'd recommend a hot start, as the timing of some missions is built around the FC3 Eagle's fast startup) but I think officially re-labeling the campaign for the Hornet would be doing both the campaign and the Hornet a disservice.

Triggers not loading in Mission Editor

Hey Baltic and Feefifofum, I appreciate you guys giving us blessing to augment the Campaign. A buddy and I just purchased the F-15 TGW campaign in hopes of editing after reading this for the DCS Sale. However when I save, none of the tirggers nor missions work any longer. With the DRM does that inhibit the triggers from even opening up in the editor ?

Thanks again for the Awesome Campaign. Hopefully you can help me to get this working. Also even to work as COOP F-15.

Thanks again.

milkojohns- As I explained, there is a lot more to properly altering a campaign such as TGW for the Hornet than just simply swapping the airframes and hitting save on the master copy. It's just not feasible and once the Hornet is a little closer to complete I expect you'll see those gaps start to fill. Right now, so much is in flux that any efforts to design a dedicated campaign would likely require a significant amount of revisiting.

Shrike - you can't save the missions, just open the original file, change the airframe, the launch directly from the ME by clicking the green check mark on the left toolbar.

This is part of EDs copy protection for DLC campaigns. The creators can't do anything for you.

Has anyone succesfully completed the campaign using the F18? Can it be done, or will it break triggers etc?

I have flown almost all of the missions of TGW in the Hornet. I’m currently on mission 8 or 9. The one after the C-17 Escort. The triggers for this campaign are simple time or fly over triggers due to it being a FC3 aircraft. They can’t do any cockpit switch triggers as there isn’t any. I usually do a stored alignment since I’m mimicking the F-15 very quick start up in FC3. It won’t break the triggers and I find that I usually have too much gas and need to dump some to get under weight limits. I have treated this as an air to air campaign so I copy the load out of the 15 and change out the 9Ms for 9Xs. It’s been super fun and I’m glad this campaign exists so I can focus on Air to Air BVR training. I also put in the radio freqs while I’m in the ME so I just need to change channels for AWACS. Unfortunately you can’t save anything so every time I fly a mission I have to manually switch everything, but it’s an FC3 campaign so it takes like 5 seconds. Enjoy
