will 512mb agp vid card help?

Recommended Posts

Hey gang,

My system will have to hold me for a while (p4-2.8, 1.5 gig of ddr400 ram)and speed-wise I can run LOMAC/FC fairly well with my BFG 6800 ultra. So since I won't be upgrading the mobo or cpu, or ram for a while, I thought I'd ask those in the know if stepping up to a 512 agp card would help LOMAC any at all. It's been my understanding that LOMAC is cpu-limited, so I suspect the answer to my question is "no". Still, I thought i'd ask, especially since the price of an ATi 512mb card is dropping to within my reach. I think it's the 1950xt or something like that.

thanks!

You canonly benefit on bit better image quality, for example, you can use more AA and AF but other than that... you won't get much frame rate increase because like you said it yourself, LockOn is very CPU dependant.

No longer active in DCS...

I think you'll get more bang for your buck by adding another Gig of ram..

That's if its possible with your currant MOBO..

I'll have to see what I can do. Hopefully ram prices are down a bit. I already have two sticks of 256mb of Kingston HyperX sitting around. Hard to sell, ya know. Still, more ram must be better for LOMAC, and IL2 (my main two flight sims).
