New VR player, trying DCS and need help with settings?

Hey guys, so I recently got VR, an oculus rift, and after waiting for my widmoVR glasses to arrive I'm finally able to get into the game.

However I seem to be hovering around 30FPS when flying the huey around the Caucasus map. It doesn't really seem to budge from there. My specs are:

I5 4680k (oc'd to 4.5ghz)

16gb ram

Nvidia gtx1070

Installed on a Samsung Evo SSD

Windows 10

I'm running IL2 @ medium/high gfx with a PD of 1.2 and getting 90 FPS in a lull and ASW kicks in during the action (when its disabled it gets to about 47 with a good bit of AI involved)

Cheers! :)

Hi, no worries I'm away from my computer at the moment but should be back in a few hours. I'll be able to post them then :)

That doesn't look like the VR preset, is it? I usually start there and tweak up or down. Also, do look at the mod link I posted.

Turn shadows off.

Only Nvidia Control Panel item you should use is the " Prefer Maximum Performance".

I would lower trees visibility just a little more.

Cockpit Displays to 512.

Lens effects - None.

With shadows off, you might can get by with 2x MSAA which helps.

Try also with ASW disabled, I find on my rig I prefer it disabled.

Ok it seems to be stuck at 45fps now and 90 when higher up. but i know this is due to ASW. However i can't seem to turn it off :/ Even with an OTT profile or keyboard commands :/

Water and heatblur may decrease your performance too.

Change terrain object shadows to flat only or off. Raindrops I think are disabled for VR and the cockpit global ilumination I have no idea. 45 at busy areas and mostly 90 are perfectly good performance.

And maybe some tests to determine if PD 1.2 with no MSAA is better or worse than PD 1.0 with MSAA 2x

The current version of OTT does not always apply the profile on the first start of DCS. Should be fixed in the new version he is working on.

You can confirm whether or not the profile is actually applying by selecting audio confirmation in the settings for OTT. It definitely works for me, although occasionally I have to exit out of DCS and launch it again to get it to apply.

What I do it´s leaving OTT running in my desktop. Then launch DCS.

Once in-flight, I check there is no ghosting, otherwise I alt-tab, get OTT on top, change ASW to auto or 45, then selecting off again.

Back to DCS and 100% of the times, ghosting is gone.
