CHEERS! 🥳 🍾

Kicked my son off of the computer. Damn internet can’t download any slower…

first impressions all round very nice.  Docile in taxiing, takeoff and landings.   I like the handling only negative is the Spitfire mk 1 esque neg G cut outs but it has been acknowledged.

Perfectly passable for the destruction of Luftwaffe Machines  🤩

On discord it has stated that the fuel starvation time will increase from 1.5 seconds to 3-4 seconds, so lets see how it feels then.

I had no idea that the Bendix Carb wasn't on the Merlin 25, I assumed it would have been easy to retrofit! Perhaps the Spitfire Merlins were deemed priority and why would a low level FB.VI require it?

Still, caught me completely off guard.

OHHHH SHE'S A BEAUTY!

LOVE HER! 😍

Handles beautifully. You can do some really fun differential throttling shenanigans with hammerheads - if you are very very accurate, otherwise you can throw her into some really difficult spins. Took me 2 hours before rolling her off of the runway for the 1st time - just sat in the cockpit giggling like a 12 year old girl and flipping switches like an imbecile...

So much equipment to learn (not yet implemented)! It has some acknowledged issues, such as the overdone carburator choking, odd 1 second delay when firing the Hispanos, lots of glitches, but we are in EA - these will be fixed and my sweetie will be perfect!

We finally have a FAQ... best part of it:

Quote

How long will the discount last?

Once the product goes into early access, the price will go back to full price.

You guys literally could have written "By the time you're able to read this, the pre-sale is over since we've just release the module into early access" fsgrin.png

Well, in defense of ED: I says "No Step" 😁

Great module and I can't wait for more features!

Not sure where people find the take-off "docile", but that's probably just me white-knuckleing her around...

So the left engine smoke after takeoff is a known issue?

I had the left engine emitting overheating-style water vapour yesterday when I was warming up the engines at 1500 RPM with radiators closed, even though all temps were still below recommended. Is that something similar to what you've noticed?

Aborted the mission then and flew it again with rads open all the time - no issues noted.

Very similar. Channel map, winter, OAT 0C. Taxiing around 1200RPM, takeoff at 3000/+12, climbout at 2850/+9. Oil temp 30C. Rad temp 60C on taxi. On climbout oil temp was around 40C, Rad temp around 95C.

First time it was the left engine. Second two missions were both right engine. Smoke as I taxi onto the runway, then it goes away. Takeoff, climb, smoke for a couple seconds on climbout, then goes away and gone for the rest of the mission.

On an unrelated note, oil dilution buttons don't appear to work either.

IIRC, level bombing was done with the glass-front variants and the #2 laying prone.

BTW, when my mum was born, my grandad was in France (RAF ground crew), and the only ride home he could get was in the bomb aimer position of one of those mosquitoes.
He said the pilot was having some fun with him, flying very low across the channel and clearing the cliffs so close he thought they'd cut the grass!

Loving this on first inital flights, pretty much a n00bie when it comes to prop and warbirds.

Couple of questions
So my HOTAS is a single stage trigger (X-56) - I imagine those with 2 stage can fire the cannons and machine guns together? is there a way around this with one stage trigger do you think? Currently I have them both bound to the trigger with machine guns using a modifier to shoot them.

Also, still learning the start procedure so muscle memory isn't quite there yet. If you mess up the sequence slightly, like forgetting the magnetos or not opening the fuel valve. If I try again in the correct sequence the engine never seems to catch and properly start up. Seems only way I can, is to get a brand new aircraft. Is that prototypical?

It would be realistic to use two buttons. In the real mossie you shoot the 20mm with the index finger and the .303 with the thumb.

Don't forget to open the window and order the ground crew to prime the engines again after a failed start attempt.

Yes it can. Just select the correct option in the bindings.

...could the Mossie be used for cargo runs?

Some MP servers are using L-39 or C-101 for recce and transport runs...so I think the Mosquito would be interessting, too...more challenging and fun to fly!

Not very easy on the modern servers due to absence of RWR/CM, but could "provoke" close coop escort sorties.

(Would a friendly IFF interogation on a friendly Mossie produce a friendly reply in the simple DCS-IFF-Universe? Or unknow/red?)

Did BOAC use FB MkVI for the ball bearing runs to Sweden...?

I have to say that the FB.VI is an absolute beauty…

… in every way - looks, sounds, handling, guns are just an absolute stream of destruction…

Getting on the tail of an 88 and opening up is like running a chainsaw through it 😮

Bombing takes practice, but getting there

Can’t wait for the RPs - havoc incoming
