I would recommend just starting with voice assist alone on the desktop to get familiar with things. You can go through the menus and move the cursors around. Just do a factory reset when your done and ready to calibrate.

OK, I have had a play with it. I can set the active com port, but a lot of times I press button 2 as requested but it doesnt get recognised as confirmed. I can move the curser with my FCU ok but the indicater still is red.

I have tried to do the calibration with DCS running but it appears that Windows wont let Voice Assist have focus. Could you please give me the order to do things in?

Hey Crash, Sorry to hear your having issues, let's move this over to discord, there are lot of procedures that I can refer you to there.

 

The first step would be to get voice assist working outside of DCS. We talk about, and illustrate how to do that on the discord. The reason your not getting the second green light on voice assist is because you are not on the same com port as your HMS.

 

After you are connected to the correct com port you and have 2 green light, you then enter the PointCTRL set-up mode by holding the right button on the HMS.

 

When you are in the set-up mode the third green light should come on and voice assist will be active.

 

While in this mode you should explore the different functions using your FCU to change and enter menu functions.

 

I would then factory reset the HMS and reset voice assist by picking another random port and then select the port that the HMS is attached to.

 

Now go through the process again of entering the set-up mode. when voice assist tells you you are connected and in the set-up mode you can then start DCS and you should still be able to hear voice assist while DCS is running.

 

The order of staring voice assist or DCS doesn't really mater. You can switch between them and the voice assist menu will update and respond without window focus.

 

I hope that helps, but I do strongly recommend you come over to discord for the tech issues, we can can quickly DM you pics as we talk and even do voice and screen share to get you up and running.

Figured I'd ask here. Is there a fix for the multiple WMR display thing? I did the disable displays and recalibrate thing. But every time I start in VR I have to turn the displays off now.

Harlikwin, I have been reading about that issue. It seems to be related to an integrated GPU rather than any one specific game or even VR.

No worries, I figured I'd ask here if anyone figured out something better yet. You are certainly not responsible for MS f-ups :smilewink:. On the plus side my new calibration works better than my old one.

The tool can disable the virtual monitor, but every time they are deactivated (no matter if manually or with that tool) 3 new monitors are generated.

 

 

The actual display name of my virtual monitors are \\.\DISPLAY85 & 86 & 87.

The tool shows also the region of the registry keys:

Thanks for the try Kaltokri, we all appreciate it. It was great to talk with you yesterday. If MS does not fix things soon I will make a firmware change to address this. I should probably make the change anyway so the graphic menu cursor movements are more consistent and not vary with your screen size and aspect ratio.

Reference the WMR issue: I was setting PointCTRL up with Rocky today, and his Steam updated during our screen-share session. After a reboot, the virtual displays stayed deactivated and to the right. He DMd me later and said that after several reboots the virtual monitors seem to stay deactivated. He thought it may have been tied to the steam update.

 

Has anyone else had this experience?

New VR Pointing Device

 

I connected my today arrived pointctrl to my machine and is working perfectly with my Hp Reverb. The camera was connected to COM3, I had the three green lights in the setup program, entered into setup mode, defined limits, target points, etc and is amazing, I will need to recalibrate the targets points but is working. Miles, I will contact you in the morning to ask you some questions about the setup.

Reverb here. I don´t know why, but I don´t need to deactivate my "virtual screens" anymore, so I think the problem for WMR headsets is solved. Regards.

Yeah, me too. I just updated everything to the latest (KB, DCS etc) and I was getting ready to recalibrate pointctrl. Didn't see the multi monitor issue so MS must have fixed it.

Yea, Rocky and I were on screen share and his steam updated, and then he rebooted and the virtual monitors were all disabled, so it looks like steam fixed it not MS.
