PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller

Recommended Posts

Additional question:

I just opened the lipo battery package and I see what appears to be a transparent protective plastic sleeve around the lipo batteries. Am I supposed to remove this? Or is that holding the battery parts together?

Edit:

Nevermind

After opening the FCU I found out the transparent sleeve needs to stay

Hey Guys,
Production has increased, and I will continue to invest to continue to speed things up.
Note:  Last weeks batch that went out had a bug in the calibration code. I have fixed it as well as added a few new features.

This update is only for version 2 and is available here https://pointctrl.com/firmware/

Pretty much same exact issue I am having here. I posted on it to Miles over on the Discord. Auto update just closes out and does not work, and I never see any com port listings for it doing it the manual way described. Mine is pretty much working fine as is so I will just forego this update.

It doesn't appear as in the instructions, at least for me it appeared as  regular com port, the manual update worked fine for me, by just typing COM4

Yeah but I am getting no indication at all which one of those Com ports mine is on. Afraid of really screwing something up there if I try to just guess. Auto update no joy, and manual update I can't get either. Really though mine is working fine as is, main thing that interests me with the new firmware is how it powers down the HMS instead of it being on all of the time.

Hey Miles not sure where the best place to post this is  - I've put in 3 requests on May 2021, December 2021, and just today via the website and got 3 emails stating:

I think something has gone wrong because I have not had a reply back.

Appreciate the help!

Hey DoorMouse
I juist saw this, did you get your invoice?

So if you look at the com ports, one of them will disconnect, and another, will connect as you go through the process and then disconnect, with the original report reconnecting, the one that the one in the middle is the one you want.

I will try again little later this morning but I sure did not see anything like that when I was doing it. At least not that was obvious to me.

I'm sold, but I need a tad bit of advice.

Why would I want the advanced system over the standard?  I don't mind spending the extra money if it's truly useful, but I'm not sure I understand why having an additional set of buttons on my HMD would be useful in any way, or if there's some other benefit of the advanced kit.

Also, is the lead time really sitting at a year, or is that old news?

Thanks,
Kev

Ok got it thanks, I needed to look at the icon just to the left of listing to see which one was in bold during those 8 seconds.

Trust me, you will want those aux buttons.

I use for Pilot Salute for the Hornet, re-center VR view, fps counter, control tab indicator, escape mission. etc. Plus the magnetic chargers for the FCU's are really nice.

Yep currently shipping orders is showing around a year lead time, but I understand he is making some improvements to hopefully help that. Go ahead and get an order in, you will have plenty of time to cancel should you wish. You don't pay until it is preparing to ship. I waited a year for mine and am so glad I did. Could not imagine flying DCS without it now.

It s more inmersive for things like NVG controls, and definitely catapult salute if you are into naval ops.
I also have kneeboard controls on them.
But salute is what I enjoy the most.

Perfect answer, and makes my decision easy.  I thought they would just be extra mouse buttons, which seemed completely useless to me, but knowing they're programmable is a whole different game, especially since I've been struggling with a few controls I want on my HOTAS but just don't have a free spot for, and I've got an x56.

I'm also disabled and mostly bed bound, which means I have my stick mounted on a side table to my right, my throttle on a desk to my left, and usually leave my mouse on my chest/belly, where sometimes it tries to hide from me when I need it FAST!!

Thank you!

Somewhat good news. Since we began shipping again after some production changes, we invoiced and shipped 30 days worth of orders in the 18 days . We have also started another round of manufacturing process improvements with the goal of doubling production again.

Thanks again to everyone for your support and patience. We will continue to increase production and improve PointCTRL. We have some new things in the works for both firmware updates for v2, and are looking forward to a v3.

Did you talk to Miles yet? With some luck it's only the USB Micro Port on the Arduino Micro. If you find somebody who can solder, he can fix it up for you easely.
