Black Screen when loading Open Beta

Recommended Posts

After all of the recent updates, I am still getting a black screen of death on startup for the OpenBeta version. The stable version works fine. Giving up real soon.

UPDATE:I reinstalled the OB and ran it with no issues if I did NOT add any terrain or plane modules. I guess I can just stick with the stable version or just fly the Su-25t in OB but no F18.

I loaded the A10-c module and everything was ok. I then loaded the F18 module and so far ok. I am afraid to load any additional terrain maps. I don't know why it is working this afternoon and not this morning. I love computers.

NineLine I spoke to soon

After loading the A10-c and the F18 modules and booting up the game twice, I got the black screen again.

dcs.zip is from my first failed boot attempt and then I ran a repair and tried again with no joy and 2dcs.zip is from this second attempt.

NOTES:

I cannot seem to find the folder overwingvapor in bazar/effects/particlesystem2/overwingvapor/.

I searched for the models directory and could not find a

bk_90.edm.json file or any of the other bk files that the log says is missing.

As far as this error:

2018-09-03 20:44:43.316 ERROR Lua::Config: Lua error [string "./Config/MonitorSetup//2_monitors-FA18C.lua"]:54: attempt to call global

that is the lua file I use when I fly the F18 with Helios, but according to my options file, I am using the 1 camera lua file.

2dcs.zip

dcs.zip

A number of those errors in the logs may have nothing to do with the probelms you are seeing, quite often you will see errors in the dcs.log file that dont affect the game at all.

Is this only when trying to use NTTR or the Persian Gulf?

Is this only when trying to use NTTR or the Persian Gulf? No. For the time being, I am only using the Caucasus map

It is definitely problem with your "2_monitors-FA18C.lua" file : dcs is execute this file to extract preset name ( this name then pushed into the selection listbox in options ) , problem is that this execution is not completely guarded - we will fix it. but now i recommend to remove this failed file or fix it manually

( update : fixed internally rev #141259 - monitor setup execution is now properly guarded )
