bullitt757 Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Hello all, First post, trying to find out some info on the two headsets because I got an oculus this weekend and then scored a vive a day later for a sweet deal locally (200$). My question for the users that have either of these head sets. I have noticed that the oculus performs just a tad better than the vive, not from a hand controller aspect but from a headset view standpoint. My view the oculus is a tad more stable, less jittery as you would say than the vive. How do you as users of the vive get less studder. I will have to say between the two, the vive has the better picture quality than the oculus, but the oculus has better stability. With the vive I can actually read all of the gauges better. Any input is helpful, and Ill try to clear up any questions about either.
trigen Posted September 6, 2018 Posted September 6, 2018 Sell both and get a Odyssey if you only do flightsims ;) Pros and cons with both but I went with the Rift in the end. For me it had better sweets spot and clarity. Slightly smaller pixels on the display than the vive that gives a minute better image. It's also lighter and better for extended use. God rays way worse though. Just use them both a bit and decide for yourself really. Both have a tech like asw but oculus is slightly smoother perhaps but nothing I really notice. Odyssey use steam vr and I can't say I have any issues with judder except when it tries to boost from 45 to 90 sometimes. Then it can go to 55 60 and back to 45 again. This you can lock to 45 with the Rift software if it does that there. Not 100% sure on steam but trying to find out. If ur doing rooms scale too then go with the vive. I'm on a i7700k 5ghz and a 1080ti 1080 ti, i7700k 5ghz, 16gb 3600 cl14 ddr4 oc
bullitt757 Posted September 6, 2018 Author Posted September 6, 2018 Thanks for the reply, though I am planning on keeping one of these. I am leaning more towards the vive due to constant need to readjust the oculus to get optimal view without blur, which seems less necessary with the vive. Also I am running 1070ti with 7700k. I am just looking for some recommended settings or adjustments.
