I'm not quite sure i understand what you mean.... There isn't any "lock" using the CTRL-F11 view. This just unlocks the camera so you can move it wherever you want, but you can lock it to the last viewed plane/vehicle (i think?). If you're viewing your own plane in F2 view, and then hit CTRL-F11 and then hit CTRL-F3 the camera will be where you left it with the CTRL-F11 view, but it will track your own plane. If that made any sense :P

Thanks for your quick respond Glowing_Amraam!

What I tried to explain is. In F11 view I move my camera position to the

runway. I focus my jet and then hit DEL on the numpad to lock my plane.

The camera will then stay on my jet and I can record what I want.

OK now I switch to another view, lets say F3, I also record some action and THEN want to go back to F11 view, to the runway where I startet. Going back there of course works BUT ------ I lost focus on my yet!!!! I have to search for it in the skies. This always takes time. So what I want is go back to F11 and STILL have my jet locked! I will try to work with CRTL - maybe that is the solution - I didn't try it yet.

Thanks - so far!

CTRL-F3 will lock the camera to your jet while in "free camera mode" (CTRL-F11).

Mmmmmmh - every thime I come back from F3-view with CRTL-F11 I am on

another airbase (not the one my jet is cruising around). If I hit just F11 I am

back at the correct airbase but - as I already pointed out - the camera does

not follow my jet anymore - I have to search for it in the skies and can then

lock the jet again with numpad DEL.

When you press "CTRL-F11", the camera will "release itself" from anything you are looking at, so you can now pan, move and look anywhere you want.

If you go back to your own jet, or whatever, and then pressing F11, you will now be put back into the "CTRL-F11" view you had moved around a few seconds ago. If you press F11 more than 1 time while in this mode, you will be thrown back to some airfield.

Yes I understand but this also means when I get back to F11-view from any

other view I will not automatically have the camera following my jet in F11-

view again. I HAVE to relock the yet with numpad DEL to have it always in the center in F11-view.

Do you agree?

To be honest, im starting to fail to understand how this is so difficult..

Lets say you place the camera on the runway in front of your jet and you watch the jet fly by and take off. This will kinda be like the F3 flyby view.

You hit F2 and look at your jet from the external view. Now, you want to go back to that same place you were before, on the runway.

Hit F11, and then CTRL-F3. You're back in buisness.

Update on the movie:

I have only edited 25 seconds of movie material, but it is the most professional 25 seconds ive done yet... IMO, of course.. :)

Work is going good, and i hope to bring you a very exciting movie in the end.

GA - heck yes - writing all this stuff kind of makes all more difficult. :-)

I appreciate your patience. One last try:

I am in F11 view. I am at the runway. My jet is flying.

I have it centered in my view with numpad DEL.

So I have it ALWAYS in the middle of my screen. Fine.

It is locked. I go to F2-view (or any other). See the jet there. NOW !!!

I go back with F11. Sure I am at the same position on the runway BUT the

camera points to a direct which my jet left during the period ot time I

watched it fly in F2-view. I see NO yet because in the meantime it moved to

somewhere else of course. That's what I mean WHY CAN'T I STILL HAVE MY

JET in the middle of my screen LOCKED - when I come back from another

view. The camera is at the same position at the runway BUT THE LOCK TO

THE JET IS GONE.

Did this now make it a little clearer?

I have to ask, are you trying to produce a movie with this kind of view, or do you just want to have it while you play? And why dont u try the CTRL-F3 command, and not use the DEL key (which i have never used before :P )

Yes I want to record material for a movie with FRAPS. I want to record a

display I flew before. That is why the camera is places at the runway (like

in an airshow). Mainly I just want to switch between F3 and F11-view.

But.......... going back to F11 I loose focus on the jet, I have to zoom out

to find it somewhere in the skies, lock it again and can then zoom in again

to record more stuff. It is just recording from an existing track.

Well, since it's for a movie you can also do it this way:

When your plane is taking off and the camera is tracking it, dont change the view at all. Just record the entire track from that point of view, and zoom in and out as much as you want while recording. Run the track again, but this time use other views. During editing, it will all seem seemless ;)
