Igor4U Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 Boeing wins U.S. Air Force T-X pilot training program contract http://www.aerospacemanufacturinganddesign.com/article/boeing-wins-usaf-t-x-pilot-training-contract-100118/ $9.2 billion award funds 351 jets (option for 475), 46 simulators, and associated ground equipment. The USN will need to replace the T-45 Goshawk at some point, and with foreign sale, another 200 - 300 aircraft are possible. AeriaGloria Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 (edited) How long until capable carrier and light attack variants? Would be interesting with a small AESA radar, or if they could integrate a gun. Either way interesting future. Really thought the T-50 was gonna get it but glad Boeing/Saab won. Looks like Saab 38 and single engine Hornet,T/W is almost 1.5 at max weight, crazy! probad Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 Yes and again a completely new aircraft! man i dunno that planform looks awfully familiar, like a certain carrier based aircraft that boeing keeps rehashing...
AeriaGloria Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 Saab 38, officially Saab is responsible for rear fuselage and “other systems.” I suspecf the they had a big hand in the easy maintenance access, not to mention Saabs always have rough field capability, will be interesting to see what it can take Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com

aileron Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 If you figure in some way the F5's progeny is the F18... to me it looks like an F18 and F16 mated, had a baby and it has grandpa's nose.
Svend_Dellepude Posted October 6, 2018 Posted October 6, 2018 Looks kinda like a twin rudder alpha jet. Thought that also. The nose looks like it's sampled from an SU-34. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Win10 64, Asus Maximus VIII Formula, i5 6600K, Geforce 980 GTX Ti, 32 GB Ram, Samsung EVO SSD.
TLTeo Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 As an Italian I was rooting for the T-100 obviously but damn, it's hard to argue with that TWR
