Wouldn't it be better to complete A-A capability and then move to A-G, or vice versa. According to the poll results, most people want A-G weapons. So, you have added all the A-A missiles and now you will add JHMCS, which is nice, but what will be next? HARM and TGP? Start working on A-G and forget A-A? If you add next only the HARM, the Hornet will still be a weak ground punder and a weak fighter. A little bit of AA and a little bit of AG and we get nothing at the end. Complete one capability and then move on the next.

This has been discussed over and over and over again. The person(s) working on the JHCMS is not the same person(s) working on the Radar and most likely not the same person(s) working on the HARM.

If certain features or systems are complete enough to be added, then add them. ED should not follow a specific roadmap that only part of the community agrees with.

I couldn't be happier with the Hornet. The time it takes ED to implement new systems gives me time to become proficient with the existing. We do a fair amount of AA in our group so the current systems are very welcome. Every-bodies mileage will vary.

So you guys are saying that, even if ED is close enough to complete A-A capability, it should abandon it and develop A-G capability, which is far away from being near completed.

As said before, ED isn't going to abandon AA. Just because they release something else doesn't mean AA work isn't in progress

I didn't say that at all. I didn't mention AA or AG.

It was explained how and why the updates come as they do. Accept it.

Silly me, I should't have answered, since post is directed to ED and not you.

As if ED is just going to post in this random thread. You may get a response from nineline but that's about it.

That hasn't come up at all, that is a common belief by those that think their favorite system should be first.

Let me let you in on a little secret.... ED is not close to completing A/A - based on released info so far. There are a lot of systems that tie into the A/A Radar for it to work with all of it's glory, i.e. MIDS, LINK16, SA - just to name a few.

You also have ZERO idea of where the A/G radar state is, simply because ED has not discussed it for a long time. Now I will concede that most likely means it's a ways off - YOU do not get to say that it is "far away from being near complete" since you don't know.

For all we know the A/G Radar is closer to being complete - however unlikely. Further did you not even read my post where I stated things should be added as they are ready and not follow some arbitrary schedule?

And people in the community wonder why ED is so tight lipped on giving out estimates - it's because of this kind of behavior.

That is the spirit.

The learning curve would have been higher if all the hornet systems were released fully-featured.

There's a thing called private messages and email for direct messaging. You post in a public forum, its implicitly directed to the public.

It's a perfectly valid point of view that effort might be better allocated to "finishing" major related systems as opposed to completing unrelated systems in a (seemingly) random order. I don't know why such an opinion is so controversial.

I, too, would prefer devs focus on either A2A or A2G related systems. The order isn't important to me, but it would be my preference to have either a fully working A2A or a fully working A2G solution as opposed to having both in an incomplete state.

ETA: I actually like getting individual systems added every few weeks. It makes familiarization easier, allows consolidation of learning, and is not entirely unlike real acquisition programs where planned functionality is added over time. I'm looking at you, F-35.

I think a middle road between pure AA and pure AG is probably better to be honest. I don't want to have to wait for them to finish the sea mines before I get LTWS, and equally I don't want to have to wait for AZ/EL before I get HARMs. There's definitely a core set of features I'd like focused on before they start filling everything else in, but everyone has different opinions on what those are (and I expect mine wouldn't exactly match many others).

I wouldn't bother trying to judge what you think is the most sensible to come next. We aren't aware of how ED's team is set up, what's already in progress and what represents low-hanging fruit / easy pickings, and what represents the enormous coding jobs that fundamentally alter the game. There are probably lots of considerations that go into what they're working on day to day - some of which might just be what Wags finds frikking cool.

Can you quote where is that said? It seems like you have totally made up that conclussion from nowhere.

Some advanced A2G capability would be nice for this supposed multirole jet. :music_whistling:

Patience, My personnal bet, and I dont have any information to back my prediction XD, is that by the end of the year, we will have the JHMCS, the HARM, some TWS implementation and perhaps only perhaps a first iteration of the ATFLIR.

I expected that the module will be finished by summer 2019.
