D4n Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 So something in DCS is bottlenecking CPU usage on ground I think, as you can see here. Multiplayer server. BitMaster Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 The bottleneck is your RAM, it's at the TILT limit. You force your rig to swap heavily. If you can, try with more RAM, 24 or 32GB might take you a mile further. I know, this is not what you wanted to hear but it is what your screenshot screams. Mr_sukebe Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 Be aware that DCS is still basically a single core application. It "appears" to be using multiple cores, as windows "hops" the app across different cores. BitMaster Posted October 4, 2018 Posted October 4, 2018 and doesn't my screenshot show 2.3 GB free RAM? 2.3GB before your machines stops responding, it has already reached the saturation point. A macOS for example would show you a thing called memory pressure, your memory pressure would be fairly high. If you had 4GB left, or 3.5GB, maybe there was some air to breath, but 2.3GB is just about to go down and quit. Keep in mind that it matters how much else would need to be loaded to make it work, plus that yous till need air to breath after loading whatever needs to be loaded. When i enter BF server, my RAM is north of 15GB, usually 16GB already before I choose a slot, later on during the flights it may go as high as 21-22GB for some time but usually settles between 14-18GB, depending on module etc.. . D4n Posted October 4, 2018 Author Posted October 4, 2018 But you agree that RX 580 is only used by 70% because one CPU thread is heavily overloaded, bottlenecking the GPU, right? And RAM, I think I'll go for this one sometime this month, depending if F-18 really soon gets HARM and TWS IFF, which make PvP waaaaaay more realistic&fun (even though I don't own F-18, but I can fly with them at least), this one is the cheapest one still... I still hope for price fall to 80-90€ the next 2-3 weeks (oversaturation of DDR4 RAM market currently?) https://www.amazon.de/dp/B01LXHJBE4?m=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF&tag=idealode-am-pk-21&ascsubtag=_S6Cdn1uCucAuxis1kn0HA 17. september that very same bar cost 165 €... now 113 €, that's almost 50% less xD (I have 2x8 currently and only 2 slots in total...) D4n Posted October 4, 2018 Author Posted October 4, 2018 You'll DEFINITELY get over 45 fps in the air with your setup IF you use "VR preset" button in the DCS settings (which I highly recommend). First try without any anti-aliasing, then you can try with, and observe fps. VirusAM Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 just for info guys i have the lenovo explorer by a week....i had not much time during the workweek...but i was unsatisfied about fps until today....when i discovered that steam vr was rendering at 200% resolution...i was trying for performance optimization when i thoughts about going to see steamvr advanced display settings...and switched resolution from auto to manual...steamvr automatically (from my specs) was rendering at 200%...i took it to 100% and my performance in dcs suddenly became much better...so just an advice go to see steamvr settings R7-5800X3D 64GB RTX-4090 LG-38GN950 N/A Realsimulator FFSB MKII Ultra+F-16 grip+F/A-18 grip, VKB Stecs Max, VKB T-Rudder MKV, Razer Tartarus V2 Secrets Lab Tytan, Monstertech ChairMounts

This was in july. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3565024&highlight=dedicated+server#post3565024 Key wording to note: "We plan to release the dedicated server in Autumn 2018." The word plan never means guaranteed. So there plan was to have it in Autumn 2018. But when it comes to software development, an idea can sometimes be more complex than originally thought and so could take longer. But definitely would be nice to get hose dedicated servers soon.
