The colour codes are wrong:

 

 

Speed ok, GREEN center light

 

Speed low: RED (lower nose) upper light

 

Speed too high: AMBER (raise nose) lower light

They’re correct for USN fixed wing aviation platforms. Think of it as Green for high, because you’re fast, and not going to slam into the boat; Orange/yellow for on speed because you are within the narrow margin of safety; red because you’re low, and about to die.

You better check this with a professional Navy pilot... i.m.o it is a standard approach indexer used by US fighers.

I have flown the (US) F5 for a few years...same system.

It's different between the USAF and USN - they have professional Navy pilots advising them (and lots of them have made videos flying the DCS Hornet and none have pointed out such a glaring flaw - because it isn't one). It was discussed previously: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=214556
