Is it possible to apply username to the aircraft skin?

Title says it all really. The only thing I can think of to boost the immersion and quality of this aircraft would be to apply the player's username to the side of the aircraft, beneath the canopy.

When you're in the front seat (or if I was the first person to jump in the pilot seat) then the word "Hovis" would be printed where the pilot's name usually is and maybe Jester could be beneath the RIO seat, or when my friend jumps in it switches to my friends name.

The thought occurred when I saw the tail number of aircraft changing in the load out menu. If you can change a number, why not a name?

The only method currently is to modify the skin files. A search will throw up all the info you need on how to do that. It would be possible to make them dynamic graphic elements in a similar way to the bort number system, but I wouldn't expect any movement on such a feature from ED.

In reality, of course, aircraft do have names on the sides, but the pilot takes pot luck as to which of the squadron's aircraft he flies, so although names are used, they are not personal rides.

I believe only the CAG has his own plane... but I could be wrong thow.

Each squadron paints up a high-color bird (the CAG bird) and usually puts the CAG and DCAG names under the canopy. Sometimes squadrons will have a second high-color CO bird with the skipper's name under the canopy. The rest are low-visibility "line birds," which names under the canopy for the rest of the aviators in the squadron in order of seniority. As a result, most officers have their "own" planes. However, since there are more aviators in a squadron than airframes, the most junior aviators are often left out (unless the squadron starts "doubling" with different names on either side of the canopy).

Another common misconception: aviators don't just fly their own aircraft; the name is more of a morale thing. The CAG bird is flown operationally like any other line bird, and is flown by lieutenants as likely as by the CAG or DCAG. It's all about what airframes are "up" and mission capable for the sortie.
