Stealth29U.K Posted October 21, 2018 Posted October 21, 2018 hi all, ive noticed that when landing and holding the wheelbrake on even below 200kph ,it sort of sounds intermittent ,like I can hear what sounds like some sort of hydraulic sound coming on and off, and it does seem to take a while to slow down. is this normal? it just doesn't seem very effective, thanks in advance.
AeriaGloria Posted October 21, 2018 Posted October 21, 2018 You can rest shift and w for full hydro pressure, but it’s only really used for holding it still during take off. There’s the parachute if you need emergency braking. It makes a whining sound in flight too if you press brake:) Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com
Stealth29U.K Posted October 21, 2018 Author Posted October 21, 2018 Thanks for the reply and thanks for the tip, that makes sense as Im sure I read somewhere that your supposed to hold 90% for 3 seconds before take off roll and thx again but I already know about the chute/airbrake functions
mvsgas Posted October 21, 2018 Posted October 21, 2018 (edited) hi all, ive noticed that when landing and holding the wheelbrake on even below 200kph ,it sort of sounds intermittent ,like I can hear what sounds like some sort of hydraulic sound coming on and off, and it does seem to take a while to slow down. is this normal? it just doesn't seem very effective, thanks in advance. The Mig-29 ( like many Russian aircraft) uses air for the brakes. When you press the brake lever, and the aircraft is moving, what you hear the brakes applying and releasing due to the anti-skid brakes. This is normal. There is also a key for applying a higher pressure for the brakes (L shift and W). This is not to be used for normal braking, this is used to hold the aircraft while running the engines. This is the hydraulic and pneumatic pressure indicator. This shows the available pressure on the pneumatic system. This show the pressure being send to the brakes Look in google for the 1F-MIG29-1, this is the manual for the MIG-29G, it explains all of this there. ED can't use this manual because is not suppose to be available for public use. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..

Yes it's normal for it to take a while to slow down. Apart from using brakes and the chute you should also aero brake by holding the stick aft just enough to keep the nose high and full aft when slower with nose wheels on the ground.
