RTT - The MT-50 Throttle companion

I love the VPC MT-50 Throttle!

But I wanted levers for dual engine propeller and mixture control. And while I was at it, I added roll/yaw/pitch trim encoders and gear and flap switches. Yes, I could have mapped the knobs of the MT-50 Throttle to do this, but I like levers...

Virpil, you guys should make modular expansions, like this, for your Throttle...

Well.

I thought the encoders and rotaries on the throttle was meant for radios and cockpit lighting.

May I be a nosy nelly and query as to what levers you are using or how you constructed them?

Closest I have seen seemingly out of the box are the sliding pots on sparkfun and of course they just slide.

The beauty of it is that they are meant for anything you can map them to :)

And since the throttle has a mode selector, the encoders can be both trimmers and radios, if you like.

You may indeed! I bought the levers from a guy who goes by the username DVik on the IL-2 forum. See the attached pic.

I also believe this guy sell levers, as well as complete throttles.

But any lever with a pivot point you can attach a magnet to, will work. Just get some TLE5010 sensors. I have bough a bunch from Aliexpress.com.

Or get some Hall sensors, and make your own.

Fantastic work! I have about the same amount of space for my sim-desk & thought a 'pit would be impossible to accommodate, but now I have inspiration.

I don't see a problem with a tiny space.

All the cockpits are tiny anyways :)

It's a feature, not a problem!

I am not a tiny guy though, so that could be a problem. :smilewink:

I used to have an Akers-Barnes setup in the spare room, but 2 children later, there is no more 'spare room' & I now do my gaming in the kitchen, at a conventional desk, right next to the refrigerator. Not far to go for a beer though, so there's always an up-side :D
